I can't edit in this thread, so here's what I meant to write:

You're right, the fabric is incredible. Very similar to the other tweed suit that HE is selling.

All the VENDOR says is pre-1957. What date would you guess?
 
I agree to the early 50s dating. I'm afraid that's out of my interest range, but i'm pretty sure that style can be pinned down to the year, probably the season. It's very unique, and I haven't seen it often. I think Laurie is probably right with his 1952 date - something about the style screams "just post bold look" to me.

But again, i ain't no expert on this era.

Yes, I know that it's hard to tell with the jacket hanging slack like that. It's only what I thought it looked like in the photo.
I agree that suits shouldn't be displayed on a hanger, but then only few people have a mannequin at home.

Beautiful fabric. At least it's labeled correctly as herringbone tweed. From what I've seen on Ebay, I've come to the conclusion that most people don't know what herringbone is even though the pattern is self-explanatory. Anyway, thanks for posting. Herringbone tweeds are my favorite fabrics.
