Dear Fellow Gentlemen,

I'm in need of an urgent recommendation and would like to ask you for advice.

To make it short: I will spend New Year's Eve with my dearest missus at home.
So, nothing official, nothing formal. Yet I will be wearing a tuxedo (that is not negotiable).

But which one shall I choose?
A black dinner jacket? Or an Ivory one?

Your opinion is appreciated!

Best,
Zachary

As this is winter, only a black one will do. The ivory ones (or white ones) are only worn during the warm weather months. And they are optional at that. I have three and all are black. And please, wear a black tie that is hand tied and not a clip on.

When wearing white tie, I tied my own for years, but finally took the easy way out and got a slip on as the white tie material is so difficult to tie. Most of the men in my circle use the clip on as well when wearing white tie.

I have nothing to offer as I too will be celebrating at home with the missus but my question is: which sweat pants to wear? The more formal black ones or go casual with the grey???

A minor point of order, it is actually a clip on bow tie and not a slip on. The proper term eluded me, so I went with what I could think of.

@belfastboy I will be wearing my grey sweatpants as we aren't formal at my house.
