I like sweaters, especially vests, but never wear them because I can't get to my shirt pockets underneath to get to sunglasses, pencils, and so forth. I've seen a few sweaters with pockets, like the What Price Glory Indian Army Sweater, but the pockets are never quite what I want, or the color is wrong, or whatever. I'd like to just take the sweater I want, and add the pockets I want!
My question is, is there a trick to sewing fabric to a knit material? I'd also like to look into adding elbow and shoulder patches to make shooting sweaters, field sweater, and so on. Since a pocket would get more use than a patch, though, would it need a backing on the inside of the sweater?
Also, how hard is it to remove sleeves from a sweater? Impossible, can be done but looks lousy, or easy?
