A SUMMER PLACE

A summer place is located in east central Indiana....and has been built in one of the local's backyard...with new construction every few years. Now there is a barber shop(with '30s style barber chair and decore)...diner(with most unique juke box that I've ever seen)...oldtime garage and fire dept...filling station...and movie theater('30's Marion,Ind. movie marquee)..along with the owner's large garage of twelve + restored classic and custom cars. Summer place is open for special events...and can be rented for parties of 25 or more.
Thursday..Friday...and Saturday is the annual Christmas party. We attended tonight. Dinner reservations included...Cheeseburger,fries,flavored Cokes,and Banana split....along with buttered popcorn for the showing of "It's A Wonderful Life"(only $15 per for all festivities!). That jukebox is a 1946 or 47 Seeburg. Its nickname is "the Trashcan"- should play 24 78 rpm records.

My pleasure! The cheeseburger had that salt n pepper taste....and the fries just a tad "good ole greasy" like was once so common. The banana split even had real fruit toppings as well. All contributing to what we used to call "flavor". That..and the atmosphere made for a step back in time. So many period pieces on display...it was somewhat difficult to take it all in with one visit.
