I was looking around a charity shop and I came across this which is a great alternative to a proper Hat Steamer .
A Facial Hat steamer.
They are meant to be used to produce large quantity of steam (so not the kind of steam that a clothing steamer produces, mostly mixed with droplets of water) for the beautician's studio's.
I bought it cheap not knowing whether it would do what I wanted (testing wasn't a possibility)
Lo and Behold this thing is exactly what I was hoping and some! It has a steam generator with a reservoir open to inspection and cleaning/ I am planing to always use it with demineralised water so I don't suppose scale would be a problem BUY should they arise , cleaning the heating element won't be a problem.
Next to the steam generator there is a led light built in the nozzle , I am not so sure whether the function is to simply see the steam better (some material suggests this is a ozone generator but I don't know, should that be the case it would be only better)
I am not saying these things are cheap. New they cost nearly as much as a Hat steamer BUT if you come across them secondhand (and I prose you there are more around than there are hat steamers) you can buy it cheap.
this is a similar one around on line
