I have a fondness for German Luxury Liners between the wars. Probably because my father served as a cabin boy on the SS Cap Arcona in 1936-1937. If I'm recalling his stories correctly, he sailed on her on her runs between Hamburg and South America and he saw a Zeppelin from her decks while at sea. As a result of his stories, I have been a fan of luxury liners all my life. During the 80s one of my college jobs was as a tour guide on the QM in Long Beach, CA. As for the Bremen, I knew she held the Blue Riband for a while (it was part of my "spiel" on the QM), but I did not know what had ultimately become of her. Danke!

The "Beken of Cowes" brought me into this old ocean liners-thing, when I was a teenager and bought a book with their photographs. :)
