1940s Short hair help/ advice

Tonight my mother and I are going to a 1940s dance. She has asked me to help her do her hair in a 40's style but we have a problem, she has short hair. It is about chin length and plenty of it so I can curl it if I need to I just don't know what to do. Does anyone have any advice or pictures they can share?

Ok so I looked through my 40's (by Turudich) hair book for you and there are short pin curl sets sorry I don't have a scanner or I would scan a few pages for you.
Working waves 1943 us a V part in center put pin curl 1st section away from face then alternate as you go back. Sides start same as top away from face then alternating but rows stay close to ears so that the top pin curls are lower down the farther they get from face. the back is straight at the top with 3 rows of pin curls pin curls are away from center back of head.
Hope that made sence there are others too but this one looked like the cutest and sounds like it would fit the length of you moms hair.

Thanks ladies that was very helpful we did something very similar to this with her hair last night, she wouldn't let me take pictures but it turned out fabulously
