1935 dated 4 button army? sport jacket

I've never actually owned one as they tend to be for quite tall pilot types. I think the labels say "Suits, Civilian Travel, Fliers" and tend to be dated in the early 50s. I know where there is one for sale but she undoubtedly won't let me take pictures. This pic is from a movie, I think, but they pretty much look like this. Notch lapel, 3-button.

A few years back 'Old Hat' (London vintage store) had a rail full of them, all dated to the 1950s (if I remember correctly).

I would have thought that the jacket in the original post was a service jacket stripped of it's breast pockets and with exchanged buttons to "civilize" it.

I wonder it is from an American equivalent of the British Army's 'Hospital Blues' suit?

It has the same four button front and lack of breast pocket.
