as much as we would like to think they didn't put there caps backwards, they did, more then we like to believe. In Silent shorts you see this often although only reserved when a man is working and the bill will get in the way. A cameraman would do this often of course. Other images I have seen have day laborers doing the same

Oh, so that's what happened to that suit! I've been very curious about it, and it's really good to finally get to see some more shots of it. It looks very good on you, but I think that the sleeves might be a bit too long.

Stunning, although would only wear boots with that length of hem as its just too high for shoes.

I often noticed on the pictures HBK posted that belts were rather popular. When I started getting into vintage word was that suspenders/braces were the norm until the thirties. Clearly this isn't the case. Or maybe a british conservative thing? Formal wear can be deceiving.

I agree with the boots. Unfortunately those are the only black shoes I own right now. I'd like to get a pair of black and grey "spatboots" to go with it but, I've got to wait till s few bills are paid first.

Belts where popular during these times yes. People go nuts saying one must never wear a belt with at 3 piece but to no ones surprise it was done. Of course they were interchangeable. Another case in where modern rules of "don't" do not apply.

A lot like reenacting for me I just look for photographic evidence and go with that.

Charles Ponzi, most famous for his "Ponzi Scheme," wore an interesting suit in 1920. Notice the arrangement of the buttons, which I don't think I've noticed very much at all on double-breasted jackets. It does look like a tight fitting jacket, however.

Here he is with his mother and wife, wearing classic smart casual attire, with a single-breasted jacket. Look at how both of his buttons appear to be used, which must have been significantly more common around then than it is now.

lovely picture THE GOOD. I am not sure that D.B. is indeed a DB and could just be infact single breasted? the under - lapping would seem to be too deep (just a thought). Lovely it is.

The bottom one with both buttons done up on the other hand doesnt look nice and that bottom button begs to be undone IMO
