Not to make assumptions on peoples' ages here, or anything, but grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts, older cousins (I fall into this category, since I'm too young to fill in any of the others, yet...), you might find this link interesting.

It's 100 Things to Do With your Grandchildren. Everything from teaching them chess, how to whistle (or how to whistle louder), how to cook, shuffle cards, build things out of wood, drive a car, shoot billiards and dozens of other cool and nifty things...Enjoy!

Oh, and how many things there do you think you could teach your grandkids?

very cool. Thank you. I tell everyone this that I made up.:D

Children are like Cracker Jacks and Grandchildren are the prizes in the bottom of the box. Takes awhile to get to them and you have to go thru a bunch of stuff but so worth it..

I never truly understood my honey till I had a grandchild just like him. Amazing to see how they react to stuff so alike but when you see it in the elementary style it is a real eyeopener. lol
One of the other ones is just like me which is truly scary..and an eyeopener as well.

Welcome, FooFooGal,

I read the list and it's really funny and interesting. Lots of fun gramps & nanna and the Little Ones activities to do there.

"#6. Tie a necktie. Grandsons will feel grown-up when they ditch clip-on ties for the real thing. Watch them practice and give pointers. Older kids likely don't know how to tie a real bow tie, a lost art and a classy touch — and one you'll teach them"

we are Nana and Pappy. :D

My wife and I are Nana and Papa. I was named by our second granddaughter. My father-in-law is Grandpa so I was going for Opa. Didn't take, but Papa did!

We've already done some of the things on the list with our oldest granddaughter. She doesn't have the patience yet for chess, though she has tried. She's nine now, maybe I'll try again.

My grandson is one and a few months. It'll be a while before I'm able to teach him how to tie a tie!

Cheers,
Tom

It is funny as whistle is on top of list. That and snapping fingers were the first things they were going to learn if I had any say. lol
Took me years to learn to whistle.
I so miss men whistling. So much.

Sadly, to this day, I still can't whistle or snap my fingers. :(

I can whistle expertly, but in some retarded twist, I can only snap the fingers on my right hand! My left fingers just slip past each other! I had an uncle who could snap his fingers REALLY loud. He used to sneak up on me when I was a little tyke of four, and snap his fingers behind my ear to scare the living bajesus outta me!
