I`m gonna spill my secret after I`ve done my purchases and sifted through the stock...(hope no one blames me!)....I stumbled across this site a few months ago...
http://www.rmr-hats.com/
Roberto Manzino, a hat dealer in Italy since 1870 is offering new old stock Italian hats for a discount to (then or now?) prices. See the "end of series" button.
I`ve sourced my Barbisio`s and Panizza`s from him, and whist he seems not to to answer to mails, he does ship by Fedex within a day or so of receiving the order, and after the purchase the site takes the hat you bought off the sale list. The payment is linked to Paypal. A very good service is offered.
The Panizza`s are all 1970`s and are as new I can tell you. There are a few grades, with the Ediston model being the finest, produced at what is now the Italian hat museum, http://www.museodellartedelcappello.it/index.htm, in Ghiffa...now long closed. I`ll be watching to see how far his stock depletes...happy hunting!
