Straw
That hat looks identical to those sold by Sunbody out of Houston, TX. The Guatemalan Palm leaves, tag and sweat band are all identical. I love the way you can shape them when wet. Nice hat.
Raining today
Today I had some work to do in the woods. Unfortunately it was also raining all day. So my hat for the day was my Sunbody 3 inch straw hat. I love the way that it stiffens up in the rain and then holds the shape and softens as it dries. Great hat for the outdoors.
Summer hat
I have found myself in the same predicament while choosing a new hat for this summer. Every year we take a massive summer road trip and camp along the way. Typically we take up to 8 weeks and travel across country visiting National Parks along the way. This year we will leave...
Panama Bob Montecristi Fino
Here is my new Panama Bob Montecristi Fino. I ordered it in mid November and received it the first week of February. I special ordered the hat with a bit smaller brim, 2.5 inches. The wait was difficult at the time but now is forgotten and worth it. I wear this...
I'm don't think that flag code specifically refers to your actions regarding other nations flags. At a hockey game I always pay respect to the Canadian National Anthem. One time during a game some guy kept yelling, "f**k Canada" during the Anthem. Not one of America's finest. Unless they are...
Wearing your hat inside
For me depends on where inside I am. I usually leave my hat on in a store or other public place if I have no where to place my hat. In a home, office, workplace or theater I almost always remove my hat.
Perhaps an Akubra, Panama exchange program between the US and Australia? It might take some work to find a fair hat exchange rate. Hmmmm I wonder about hat inflation.
Sad Panamas
I feel sad for the Panama Canal forum. It seems a little neglected during the cooler months. Don't fret Canal I hope to keep you company while the temperatures are low. Besides, it is just warming up in the Southern Hemisphere!
Thank you for the reply and the heading to the correct thread. After reading some entries it seems like a nice project for an ebay beater first. Thank you again.
Trimming a raw brim
Has anyone had experience trimming a raw fur felt brim to a shorter length? I've seen video of it done with a circular cutter. Although a hat shop could do this has anyone tried to do it at home?
Silly comments
The silly comments we get as hat wears always reminds me of how limited we are based on our own experiences. I am a teacher at an elementary school. During the week of Halloween we have some theme dress up days. On hat day I wore a Sunbody palm leaf straw hat. More than one...
Too good to be true.
I also was enticed by their "too good to be true" prices. I then read some negative comments about the quality of their products. I never did order from them so I can not give any direct negative comments. Others on this board did not receive the quality of product that...
Finally pulled the trigger
Well I finally did it. I pulled the trigger and just ordered my first Panama. I was going to buy a new hat and couldn't decide between an Akubra traveler felt and a panama but I went with the Panama due to the fact that I live in Florida and can wear it year round...
Just practicing posting a picture
Hello everyone. I'm just trying to get the hang of posting a picture. If it turns out it is a 3in Sunbody fedora. I love it because I can wear it in the rain and not worry. It is also easy and fun to reshape. Now let's see if I can get the picture to turn out.
Although there are no hard rules do to rain, humidity and personal preference, we often hear of straw in summer, felt in winter. I'm curious about other's practices. Is there a magical temperature, date, or season that you switch the general type of hat that you wear? Of course it varies from...
