I actually ended up solving this just by going into the Lewis store in London. Their 44 is perfect off the rack for me and the green sheep looked great. I’ve also picked up their Memphis jacket since then (very lightly used - I think it was unworn) and will probably mostly stick with them now I...
I was in the Lewis shop recently - they've got new patterns for for the 'regular' versions of the jackets. I think they said they were introduced last summer, but I may be misremembering. The T-fit is still a separate thing.
I'm only just getting interested in quality jackets and have ended with a Dominator in green sheep and a Memphis jacket in black horse in quick succession. I'm fortunate that both are a fantastic fit in a stock size for me. I bought the Dominator new at the store and picked up the Memphis...
Thanks for such a detailed write up, that’s incredibly helpful. I’ll be in Japan in the summer, but as a size 44 it sounds like finding any decent bargains are unlikely and probably not worth spending a day of the trip on.
This is really nice. Is it their persimmon tanned horsehide? I’ve only seen that around on their single rider, but I think it actually looks even better here.
Out of interest, which of the Aero single-zip styles do offer a slimmer/sleeker fit without a lot of adjustments? I love the fit of my off-the-rack Lewis Dominator and did take a punt on the Aero 59'er Highwayman that was on the stock page, but unfortunately had to return it as it was just a bit...
You might be right, though a lot the Northampton makers come up on the bigger/wider side. But probably not worth the risk if you don’t have a reference point to work from.
These are UK9 - from the NPS heritage range (manufacturers of Solovair). Goodyear welted, dainite sole. Never worn. Would sell for £120+ shipping, can make sure we avoid any duties. I’ve also got these on eBay but without shipping to the US enabled.
Thanks guys. Definitely no DHL email, I guess they’ve missed it due to me asking them to delay dispatching for a few days. I’ve emailed customer support and am sure they’ll sort it.
Do Aero send dispatch details and tracking numbers when it leaves the warehouse? I ordered something from the stock page last week and added a note asking them to aim for delivery tomorrow if possible, but I haven’t had any kind of update since. It’s not the end of the world if I have to wait a...
I tried the Lewis at the store in London. I had a meeting nearby so went there mainly to get a sense of sizing and their leathers, tried green sheep dominator off the rack and it was spot on. This forum has been really useful, I try and only buy clothes I’ll wear and enjoy for many years and I...
Thanks guys - and it’s 15% off? I’ve decided to go for a Lewis for my first quality jacket after lucking out with the off the rack fit, but I’d like to try Areo next now I’ve got a solid steer on measurements and fit. Waiting till summer suits me (and my wallet).
Could someone fill me in on the Aero sales - how often are they and what’s the discount? I’ve not bought from them and would ideally want to tie an order in with a sale and a trip up to Scotland to get measured properly. Just wondering when that’s likely to be.
I’m a 42 (or occasionally 44), so I think this is good advice. I guess I had been reluctant to go down this road as it could be a lot of trial and error, buying and selling etc. But then again, I went through all of that with footwear before ultimately settling on the manufacturers I like and...
I did look at these but found the website difficult to comprehend - it mentions jackets being available in any of their leathers, but I couldn't actually find a list of leathers. I'll drop them a line though, good shout.
I'll also consider a trip up to Aero. It's a bit of a slog from here, but...
