Interesting.
Last year I went out with some friends in the Buckhead area (in Atlanta, GA) wearing my grey Dobbs. We went into this one very trendy bar/club (I don't normally frequent clubs), and the girls at the entrance said I couldn't wear a hat in there. I was a bit taken aback, but she let...
Agreed. While searching ebay i saw an item unfortunately labeled as a pork pie, which was most certainly NOT a pork pie but a tear drop.
I felt obligated to contact and correct the seller about that listing mishap.
I think some folks here might disagree with "Rule" #1. As a "general" rule shoes should be darker than the suit, yes, (and I agree), it IS possible for some people to pull of the opposite, IMO. The latter is about style.
Agreed to #2. I always coordinate my watch band/belt/shoes.
I would not...
Your last statement is spot on.
To me, those instances reaffirm that most (younger) people do not have the manfruit or self-confidence to dress how they want. They are caught in this web of socially acceptable cookie-cutter conformity from which they cannot escape, and are envious of those who...
See, now you've got me thinking. Mr. Grant could pull off the oxblood and grey in NbN. I'll probably not wear the black shoes, but the silver tie sounds excellent. Not solid silver of course, but with a couple of shades of silver/grey in a very elegant manner. What I would love to wear, but...
Agreed. For the simple fact that few people wear fedoras, it definitely makes one stand out.
And I completely agree about the confidence in wearing it—and how you wear it—knowing it was meant for you, which I think also goes back to confidence PLUS style. Just as anyone can put on a suit...
I do have my heart set on the burgundy instead of the traditional black, but I was more concerned not with whether it would look fine, but rather if it would be "appropriate" considering the reception is in the evening, after dark. I don't see why it wouldn't be, but I would like to make sure...
I've always gotten positive remarks, or looks.
I'm early 30s, and have been wearing fedoras for about 5 years. They only person who has ever said anything negative is my grandmother, who simply said "Why do you want to wear that, people don't wear those these days." Of course, she's a firm...
Hello,
I've not posted very much to FL but I do read through threads quite a bit. This time, however, I need advice.
I'm attending my sisters wedding the last week of November, which is in Charleston, SC, on the beach, at 4:30pm with reception to follow. The groomsmen are wearing black...
Having worn some type of combat boots since i was 10-12 (i am now 32), i have had--and worn--my Corcoran jump boots--bought new (before the company was sold?)--for 10 years now. I have worn them practically every day and they are the MOST COMFORTABLE pieces of footwear i own or have ever worn...
