lol nobody is saying he’s gonna be the next Madoff.
But one can easily imagine a situation where he keeps collecting the payments upfront to pay for expenses and keep the lights on in order to pursue his dream. Eventually these “deposits” will dry up and he’ll be forced to call it quits...
You're right it's bad business.
But I think the pyramid scheme is coming more from the idea where they have this perpetual stream of unfulfilled orders that keep getting delayed... while taking on even more orders and money upfront without much in the way of providing buyer protection, i.e...
This guy has figured out how to have more customers than he knows what to do with, takes full payment upfront, has multiple delays and refuses refund
But still word spreads and he gets more customers. And....
Granted I'm probably more impatient than a lot of people here... no way in hell I'm paying and waiting years for someone to produce outerwear. Unless you're in one of their first few batches of customers, it just seems inevitable for a situation like this to arise and then you're left holding...
Personally, I don't care if they stand or not... what matters more is that it fits well lol
Anyhow LW family still standing up
L-R: Ryder (2.5-3oz), Lee 101 (5oz) , Canvas J23 (lol), Appalachian (3.5-4oz)
The 42 reminds me of an ill-fitting Schott I tried once which was built off a bad pattern. Somehow too small and too big in various areas. It just didn't work.
44 is just too long and way too tubular.
I also noticed you said they're "custom" - don't mean to be rude, but the only custom part...
Looks good, but be prepared to give it time to soften up. CXL FQHH is notorious for being stiff - especially in colder weather which causes the waxes and oils to harden.
Matter of fact, this was heavily discussed in another thread last week
I've found for a LW J23, I needed to go up one size compared to my other jackets.
Not sure why the sizing is that way - but that's how it worked out.
Btw you should be posting this in Classifieds section
I don't believe there's a sizing formula on his website
LW will not show any strong fade or patina. These hides are tanned with the intention of maintaining the topcoat through everything you throw at it. What you can get in terms of "aging" is grain articulation of the HH.
The russet horsehide can show some minimal patina, but it's not CXL-style...
I did read it, and it didn't seem like he was out to get you at all. I mean, it’s not like anyone expected the Spanish Inquisition!
Anyway it's all good, I saw you're waiting for results of your license exam. Nothing more you can do at this point, so just maybe take a break and do stuff that...
More of a question.
I came across Gallun tannery that makes a nice grainy horse rump. I've only come across Truman making boots with these. Have not dealt with either Gallun or Truman - has anyone here purchased anything from them? Decent quality?
I'm open to other suggestions, just really like...
