Yates Men's Wear
Bought an Akubra Boss of the Plains hat from them.
They were courteous, pleasant to deal with; hat arrived in perfect condition. Hope you have the same experience.

First Open Road
Congrats on your first Open Road, it is a beauty.
I have two: an old one (pre 1960), and a new one, and I paid a lot more for both of them.
The old one is softer than the new one, but both are rather stiff - both the crown and the brim.

No 13
One of our members posted a pic of James Dean wearing a style of hat he had never seen before - a fedora with a double bash.
No. 13 seems to be the model for that style - one unfamiliar to me as well, and I am no teen.

The new Stipulas with titanium nibs have a new feed system and they have corrected the problem.

My own jackets have gone from center vent, to side vents, to no vents. I...
Cans
I have been to the opera many times in recent years and there are more people in near beer-can attire than not; they seemed fine with it, so they would probably say I am out of step.

Suede
I have an old Churchill stingy brim hat made of suede I bought decades ago.
Could never keep it on my head for very long as it was too hot to wear in a temperate climate; has sat in a closet ever since. Don't know about leather.

Vintage pens
Can't go wrong with a Parker 51. Beautiful, sleek, reliable, light in the hand and the smoothest nibs anywhere.
They are also readily available from a number of vendors.
