I totally get your frustration, there aren't a lot of choices in that price range. I've been on the market for a while and my budget has been creeping up, the problem is that the more I'm willing to pay the pickier and more hesitant about the purchase I get; has already made me miss some...
Thanks for the input! Any thoughts between the Mercury and the Enfield? The cut on the Enfield seems more forgiving; but it also looks more purpose built for riding, which I do not do. The Mercury looks more simple with the lack of action back and side buckles, but that waist taper is scary, haha.
I tried on a Vanson Arrow and I noticed that the sleeves made it difficult to bend the arm completely since it kinda bunched up at the joint. Was this due to the Arrow having narrow sleeves or due to the thickness of the material?
Personally I value comfort, so having a bit more room to play with is welcome. Never been a fan of skinny stuff, but I do worry that I might lean too much in the opposite direction, which can look unkempt.
Of course, I can see why someone would appreciate the armor-like qualities of the stiffer leathers. I haven't had a chance to make a purchase, but personally I quite enjoyed goatskin's softness and scuff resistance from playing with the samples. I know it's not the most popular choice though.
Have you considered ordering some leather samples? Getting a feel for the different types of leather offered might help. If you want something that doesn't need break in.. maybe their soft grainy steerhide? I quite like the sample I got of it but I don't know if there are things that are only...
I'll have to check if there are any stores close by with Rockys or Thorogoods in stock. Samuel Hubbard is a bit out of my price range and somewhat dressier than I would like.
My Clarks Caribou are nearing the end of their life and I'm looking to replace them. I'm hoping to find something confortable in all black (including sole) that is of a relatively simple design. I've tried Ecco shoes and while I like some of their designs the sizing doesn't agree with me. Does...
Do you own any bracelets? It might add balance to wear one in your right wrist since the left one has your watch. I'm not the most versed on style suggestions though so take it with a grain of salt.
I've seen a couple of posts regarding people giving their measurements and getting jackets that don't fit they way they expected. Seems to be a bit of a crapshoot, so I'd rather go with something that's a bit more predictable. Specially since buying garments online without getting to try them on...
I've been looking at Fivestar Leather on their site and the thread on this forum. I'm a bit worried about some complaints some members have regarding the fit.
Those are all way to expensive for my budget. I was hoping somewhere within 300-500. I know it's hard to get decent quality at that range. But I don't feel I can justify a big ticket purchase on my first jacket.
