Stetson Trooper modified
If you're the patient type you'll find straw trooper hats on ebay. I'm happy with this straw after dropping the front with a bit of steam.
Unfortunately the site won't allow the photo upload from my computer.
BORSCHT BELT
Kaye was one of dozens performers incubated in the Catskill Mountains between the 30s and 60s.
Billy Crystal tried to capture some of the flavor of that entertainment culture in "Mr. Saturday Night". Any book on the subject will certainly mention Danny Kaye.
I came across this today in my search for the remaining members of the JATP.
Anyone interested in jazz or the social history of mid-20th century America will enjoy this.

Industrial history at its best. Thanks for the post!
Nice Story
I'm the guy who posted this article a couple of years ago.

Thanks MC for posting a very interesting photo/social commentary on rural and urban '30s and '40s America. One doesn't get to see these scenes in color often.
RICHIE At GABE'S BACKSTAGE LOUNGE.JPEG
Here's my first shot at attaching a photo file. It was taken last week at a gig my band, "The Big Band Sound of Deerfield" played at a club in Highwood, IL (a Chicago suburb). That's me in my Stetson "Playboy" holding my Guild X-170 archtop. It was fun...
