I had Jerome (Cheaterome) paint my Buzz L-2A with a Korean War blood chit that was copied from an original L-2A from the C-47 unit the "Kyushu Gypsies."
While Jerome had the jacket I was able to come across an original Kyushu Gypsies patch on Ebay which I later had put on the jacket.

I came across this really neat picture of two pilots from the 4th Fighter Group. To me what is so cool about the picture is that they have both AAF wings and RAF wings painted on their A-2's. Very unusual.
Mark, your civilian A-2 looks an awful lot the one my grandad is wearing in this picture. If you look closely, you can see his jacket also has the G-1 style front zipper and the pocket flaps and collar details which are very similar to your jacket.
I agree, the knits on the newer ELC jackets are far better than the ones from years past. The knits on my RW "warhorse" 1401P are also holding up just fine. I've had no problems with "ballooning cuffs."

Here are some various pictures of my grandfather, Capt. John F. Rivers, who was a lead Bombardier with the 833rd Bomb Squadron, 486th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force.
Here's his B-24 which was named "Superstitious Aloysius" Sudbury, Suffolk May 1944.

I put a liitle olive oil on my leather nametag (not the jacket) to darken it up a little. Once the oil worked in and dried it took that brand new look off it.
Thanks for the pics Shamus! Thats a GREAT looking jacket, and I love the way the finish wears. Thats just what I'm looking for in a A-2. You guys certainly made my decsion much easier. That jerky hide is a winner.
