Hello Everyone!
Just a little announcement that the third issue of Zelda is now available at http://www.zeldamag.com ! We have an amazing lineup of articles this time around, including a new column, "Formerly Famous", by lounger skyvue!
This issue's cover feature is an interview with...
Union Terminal has been one of my favorite Cincinnati places since I was a kid! I try to make it back when I'm back in town visiting the parents. I miss the ice cream parlor, though...they used to have this amazing ice cream place that still had all of this original signage/decor in it...but...
Inky- that is a FABULOUS brooch!!!!
I found this early 30s gown on ebay for next to nothing....but I fell in love with the color and the flower detail...the vintage ostrich mini boa was part of a burlesque costume found in New Hope, PA!
I want to find everything in this color now!
If shes looking for corsets in the NY area, I would recommend Shumit at http://underground-aristocracy.com/ . He made me a gorgeous faille underbust corset and was very reasonable considering the make! Steel boned and fabulous.
Lolita - I LOVE your photos! I wanted to do a shoot inspired by those 'shadow' shots, too! I love those early pinups- esp the Halloween ones!
Here's one inspired by a shot of Clara Bow:
I wanted to recommend looking for Rose Marie Reid suits on ebay! I'm wearing one on the right here (with a belt for this pinup photo event I was at), but the styling and construction is fantastic...and ebay tends to have a good number of her suits from the 50s at any given time. Sometimes...
Dying my hair black! I always had dark brown hair, but that move to black 5 years ago made all the difference! I felt so much sassier and more powerful with black hair!
That and cutting back on the sugar and bad carbs! I do allow myself enough cheats so that I can enjoy some bad things now...
Just putting some recommendations out there...Sue Nice in LA is amazing...and I have a corset from Underground Aristocracy here in NYC- Shumit's work is great. Fabulous construction...steel boning, etc etc...
Some pics of Underground Aristocracy corsets:
This is the Alston overbust...
I'll second that the eyeshadow colors are great if you want that super high pigment look...add it to the Urban Decay Primer Potion for eyes and whoa!! Amazing color!
Aw, thanks, all! I love doing this stuff...so much fun...!
Chanteuse- the shoes are vintage...the lacy panties are vintage, too (like vintage 60s, you can probably find things like these pretty easily)...and the corset is Agent Provacateur. It's a great one and was on super sale this January...
I was at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Vegas last week, and went on the Pinup Photo Safari- a jaunt down Fremont St during a vintage car show! For once, I'm not wearing vintage- but I am carrying a 40s umbrella :) (all photos by Don Spiro)
I produce Zelda : The Magazine of the Vintage Nouveau, which Matt pointed out...we have a focus on pre-WWII 20th century interests- mostly Jazz Age, but some earlier items as well :)

I've got the Doris Eaton Travis books signed by her...'The Days We Danced'- an autobiography...and 'Century Girl', a pictorial/collage biography by Lauren Redniss. She was so wonderful!
