Currently, tramping up and down Manhattan in 20 degree wind-chill, and a pair of high-heeled Remix's. Also, if the apartment I look at tomorrow pans out, my future says: six flights of stairs! :eusa_doh:
New York, Manhattan my hometown; Park Slope, Brooklyn my current town.
Also: Berlin, Berlin, Berlin. Next living destination after NY. London as well, & New Orleans, Florence, Prague, & Ghent, Flanders. All places I would live happily for more than four years, my usual nomadic limit. And if all...
Last time I was in Disney(World; of the ultimate marathon-all-day lines) I wore a black 50s pencilskirt and off-the-shoulder blouse. And tights. (But flats, not heels.) The man wore suspenders and hat. Felt pretty comfy, too. And disdainful toward the slobs, who proved even slobbier than those...
Excellent observations on the profusion of beehive hair. Also in Zhivago-- Lara's peach-toned matte lipstick. Horrifically 60s.
Now, I do love me some Chinatown, and the attention to detail involved, but there is a moment I simply can't deal with. When Jake gets all roughed up by the Okies...
Mmm, chicory. Every morning with the Times. Two tablespoons per cup; lots of cream and sugar; strong like bull. The principal reason for waking.
Otherwise, I enjoy my coffee boozed, with a bit of amaretto or brandy; and never pass up a good cappucino.
I, on a quest to find high-waisted, 40s-style jeans, actually found ones that look EXACTLY like those in the photo-- the farmgirl who threw on her boy's jeans-- in American Eagle. MEN'S jeans. The smallest waist was 26, but I'm taking them in a bit; they're amazing with rolled cuffs and really...
Disregarding the many larder-ingrediant facial masks I've been making lately, I use:
- Witch hazel for makeup remover.
- Apple cider vinegar for toner.
- Rosebud salve.
- Queen Helene masks.
- Bayer asprin (for pain and asprin facial masks).
- Kotex of course.
- Coke in glass bottles. I...
I've been using the PF mineral translucent loose powder for about three weeks, and I LOVE it. Insanely. I'd resorted to it after using Coty translucent--and unscented-- for a week broke my forehead out in millions of clogged pores. With the help of some good masks & time, I'm fixing it-- must've...
Got this mid 30s dress for amazingly cheap, due to bad photographing by the seller. It's in perfect condition, & the collar is all pleats!
It also has the same pleated fabric tacked on like a streamlined whoosh, or wings, to the sleeves. :)
... Cute little late 20s linen dress...
Carnivale, which is the only item of television I've truly watched. It's my one true love, I think I've seen the series in order about 7 times. The Dust Bowl never looked prettier. My boy & are considering being Brother Justin & Iris for next Halloween.
Also Road to Perdition (30s), the 1997...
Neither angry nor happy, I'm an awful, really selfconcious drunk, who tries too hard to keep decorum.
1-2 drinks, and I'm unravelling and conversing animatedly about books, architecture, gossip. I may even kiss you. I'm an intellectual bombshell. 3 and I'm sloppy, trying to hide my drunkness...
What ladies! What clothing! ;)
Here am I:
In the livingroom before class...
Mid-road trip, at a fabulous abandoned house...
& Playing around with the Boy at an open-air museum.
As a Savannahian of five years, who converses with many local Savannahians, I can testify that the accent is very similar to the Coastal SC (Read: Charleston) accent- "Southern Belle", drawly, relaxed sound, with an Anglo streak stemming from Anglo-Irish heritage. The "hospitality management"...
What I like:
- Folding the laundry. Very cathartic, makes one feel accomplished. Precisely because it's only pyjamas and skivvies; my vintage everyday goes for a monthly dry cleaning.
- Dusting, also vacuming with my little sweet dustbuster (only a four-room apartment, so of course its easy)...
... Excited for this dress, which I snapped for under $20. Luckily not too many gals are into late 20s-early 30s housedresses/simple sheaths like I am; it's just perfect for the coming-soon 90 degree summer; linen & cool!
This isn't new, but it was huge on me and I recently got it...
Well, when I lived there, I was but a kid & didn't have the knowledge to find vintage shops. But since I'm moving back in a year, I'm needing more info as well. The only actual stores I've been to were extraordianarily overpriced, however I am a massive fan of the flea markets-- the ones I like...

Here's a '30s ad showing the unpainted-moon style. I've done it many, many times in red, always with the aid of little French manicure stickers from the drugstore. Easy-peasy, if you have the patience & vigilance to keep it neat.
