    Christy's of London

Man, I need to learn how to sew a ribbon onto my hat. I've grown to love my Adventurer except for the conspicuous tack stitches in the band.

    Christy's of London

I remember feeling a bit disappointed when I bought my light grey Adventurer last year and a wrote a pseudo-scathing review. However, I have grown to really love that hat; it's probably the dressiest looking hat in my relatively limited collection.

    Pulling Off the Casual Look

For me, it's not the hat; I haven't left the house in almost a year without some sort of hat, it's everything else. I do have more casual hats, heck, that black Tilley is much more casual looking than my Christy's Adventurer, but I also remember feeling like I had to revamp my entire wardrobe...

Am I doing it right? [huh]

    Pulling Off the Casual Look

I've seen a few pictures of loungers wearing casual attire with their felt hats, how do you all do it? I can't help but feel ridiculous wearing jeans, a t-shirt or sweater, and a fedora; I always feel the need to dress up. I still dress casually with some of my hats, usually when I'm running...

Who looks the most dapper in a modern hat?

Well it is actually factory creased and it is pretty tapered, here it is beside my Adventurer. It holds up to the elements really well. The fit is a bit off because of the lack of a leather sweatband and the foldaway earflaps, but it can be secured pretty snugly with the earflaps...

Who looks the most dapper in a modern hat?

Meh, what the hell, it's probably my only good picture in a hat anyways. In the Tilley Fedora; so modern, it doesn't even have grosgrain. Do I get extra points for that? :D

    Post New Hats Here!

I love that thick ribbon, I always have a soft spot for light grey hats, it's probably because of Paul Newman. :eusa_clap

What are the stereotypes associated with different hats?

I still kind of associate newsboy caps with the lower class...no offense. [huh]

    Greetings from Canada

Welcome, fellow Ontarian here. I visited the Hatter in January or February; great place but didn't see anything I absolutely had to have. But with summer quickly approaching I am in need of a nice summer hat, I'll probably head down there again.

    Akubra Overload

I'm all but ready to take the plunge; with all of the Fed IV arrival threads and my dissappointment with my Christys' Adventurer, I've got my sights set on a couple Fed IV Dlxs. While the Adventurer looks good from far, it's far from good; I can't get over the spotty felt, glued in liner, and...

    mine arrived today, too!

Could a Fed owner post up a picture of the ribbon, more specifically, the stitching (if it's visible) holding it in place?

    mine arrived today, too!

Gah...one more Federation arrival thread and I'm going to take the plunge. Nice lid.

    My Fed D finally arrived!

That's the moonstone right? Regardless, nice lid, the temptation to own one is increasing with every Akubra thread I see.

Does anyone wear their hats tipped back?

"Angles are attitudes." I tried "brim swooping over my eyes" look and with my peacoat, I just look like the creepy "neighbourhood watch" guy. I agree that the tipped back look does convey a friendlier persona; in modern society, fedoras are mysterious enough as is. My only problem with the...

I TRADED A $22 PIZZA FOR THIS GREAT FEDORA !!!!!

WOW this must have been one hell of a pizza for you to get such a nice hat in exchange. As a fan of felt hats and pizza, I'd like to know what was on the pizza. ;)

NEWBIE: I need help finding a fedora

I guess most people think that the major problem with the Tilley fedora is it's styling and lack of options. It's a love-it-or-hate-it hat and if you do hate it, there's unfortunately not much you can do about it without making drastic changes which will probably void your warranty (this feels...

NEWBIE: I need help finding a fedora

I guess like the rest of their hats, Tilley's fedora isn't for everyone. I remember looking at an older thread here in the lounge basically ripping the Tilley fedora apart (figuratively, this hat's very durable ) with regards to its styling. I suddenly began to feel buyer's remorse...

NEWBIE: I need help finding a fedora

Ask and you shall receive... Here's a shot from the front to show how tapered the crown really is Beside my Adventurer A shot of the teardrop Left side w/ a shot of the hat pin Liner (those are foldaway ear flaps) Oh yeah, I almost forgot...

NEWBIE: I need help finding a fedora

Well... As some may know (or wish to forget), Tilley Endurables does offer a fedora: http://tilley.com/detail.asp?catId=13&gender=m&extractBy=CategoryId&id=1&productNo=TF1 I may be a little biased with my opinions; my first hat was a Tilley fedora purchased in December '08 but the...
