Orvis used to have a wool driving coat. This year they stopped selling it. I've lost a lot of weight and my 2XL Orvis doesn't fit me anymore. I'm looking for a replacement and haven't found anything I even remotely like as much. Anyone have any suggestions for something similiar?
Likewise! I've gone one being delivered. Sa far, I just have the email with pic showing it has been pulled. I like that a lot. Now the wait for it to be shipped.
Dang it. Now that ya'll have convinced me to buy an Akubra CD, I can't find a Sand in my size anywhere. But, it did lead me to find a couple of cool straws on the David Morgan site.
I'm not sure actually. I doubt it is pure beaver, and probably a blend at best. I won't be getting the Johnson County as a bad weather hat, so I'm ok with a lesser grade felt. It will still be a quality hat made for my head specifically and that's why I'd consider it. Being from Tarrant County...
Well, I went to the store thus afternoon. Couldn't wait! I didn't get any pics, but tried in several OR hats. Im a 7 ⅝ long oval. The OR did not sit down far enough on my head for my liking. It felt like the crease was balanced on the top of my noggin. It did feel right on the forehead and back...
That identity is drifting away as more and more people move here. I'm in one of, if the fastest growing counties in the entire country. People moving here from California, Washington, Illinois, Pennsylvania, etc., do not assimilate to the Texas mindset and our identity is fading. Politics...
I live in Texas, just north of Dallas. Actually, I go to the Hatco outlet quite often and get some great Stetsons there. But, the OR is usually not in stock at the outlet. So, I'm going to a local shop in McKinney. I don't know if it is sold everywhere in the US, but they aren't hard to find...
Dang it. Just when I thought I was done buying felt hats for the season, you guys go and post this great discussion about the OR. I had been avoiding getting an OR for some unknown reason. Actually, I felt it was too "cowboy hat" looking, and I can't pull off a cowboy hat. But, I'm seeing it...
Does anyone have, or know where I can find a picture of a fedora with the back half of the brim with a pencil roll, and front brim flat? I'm trying to figure out what that would look like. While I like a good snap brim, I'm thinking of having a hat made with the brim I described.
Very good point. I hadn't considered the brim width in changing the crown of an OR to that of a Strat. There is a quarter inch difference. That would make a big difference, for sure.
Thanks for educating me. My Roadster is DeLuxe and has the diamond crown shape. Of course, I've not tried to do anything else with it, and don't plan to. I like it just the way it is. Makes sense what you're saying about the OR hats not being as mailable. I saw a guy bring one in to the...
That is a beautiful hat. I'd love to fine something like this is caribou or peacock. I live the triple pinch in the c-crown. I've got a Roadster that is similar to this. Can this be done with any Open Road?
Where do people find old, used hats like this? I've got a big 'ol noggin, so probably won't come across many my size. But, I'd still like to look for some.
These are all new in the last month! I was saving up for a new fly rod, but ended up taking a different path. I've never worn a Fedora before, but once I tried on the Stratoliner, I knew it was what I've been wanting.
Stetson Stratoliner in Silverbelly, 7 5/8.
Stetson Stratoliner in black, 7 3/4...
I just received by Stetson Roadster and love it. However, the hatband that came on it is not that impressive. I'm looking for a custom, hand tooled had band to replace it with. I probably want something in 3/4-1 inch range. The hat is acorn in color, and I'd like a unique hatband in color...
