Try rubbing Pecard’s leather cream (not the regular dressing but the cream) liberally on the inside/unfinished side of the leather, and a wax based dressing on the outside. Use a heat gun on low or a hair dryer on medium to warm the leather and hasten the absorption. Really knead and massage the...
So here is the new medium. Could be my imagination but it seems to be a slightly thinner. Slightly stiffer/dryer leather that takes creases and wrinkles a little more aggressively. Will try hanging it with a coat of Pecards to get the packing wrinkles out. What do you guys think of the fit...
I an sure there have been lots of questions like this one floated, but I have a couple specific questions, so here goes:
There are at least three Pecard's leather dressings that might work with a new leather jacket. I can't decide which to use.
Pecard's CLASSIC says it works on everything but...
I bought mine during the 30% off clearance sale. I didn't know they were switching to a lighter weight leather. I just sent it back to exchange for a Medium. We'll see how the medium fits. Now I guess we'll also see if the replacement coat is in heavy or lighter leather.
I remember the eighties too, and you are right I did wear slouchy outerwear back then. Had a technicolor mullet too, and it looked good on me. Not so much today though.
Oh, and a shout out to Taylor's Leatherware for truly great customer service. They have a terrific return policy, they are helpful and respond quickly to customer queries. They make a good product and they want to make sure the customer is happy with it.
I though the same thing you and aloysius thought. And for a lot of coats I just can't get the size right: For Carrhart work coats, for instance, Large is a little swimmy on me, Carrhart Medium is skin tight. I wear Large in those cases because there is no sleeve ride up when I raise or extend my...
Resurrecting an old thread, I know. Bought a TaylorLeatherware NYPD peacoat. Really like it, but it fits more like an overcoat than a jacket. I wear a 42 or 44 short off the rack sportcoat. Taylor's size chart says "medium" is the equivalent of 38-40, which would be a straitjacket on me.
So I...
With the liner, It is toasty warm even over a thin T-shirt, and the leather seems beefy enough to handle the elements. I mostly see equestrian police wearing these coats.
It actually drapes a bit better without the liner. Which is a by product of the liner itself being substantial, thick and...
I bought it from them direct. It is not American made but I am ok with that. I love the weight and thickness of the leather. It is not the same style as the one you posted: it is a double breasted coat reminiscent of a naval pea coat or officer’s deck coat.
EDIT: OK I should have got a smaller...
So I just acquired a Taylor's Leatherware NYPD jacket. Taylor's people were super helpful and responsive, really top notch customer service. And I like the jacket, a lot.
It is very heavy, slightly pebbled black cowhide, fairly stiff. Rib knit cuffs set inside the sleeves, generous bi-swing...
