    Where Art Thou?

Hello ladies! I'm looking for a bit of advice... I really love all of the costumes in the movie "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" and I thought it would be fun to make a few movie-inspired outfits. You know - very simple mid-1930s cotton dresses in faded fabrics, low-heeled shoes, and plain...

What Kind of Curlers Are These?

Just a quick question - what kind of curlers are the green ones? I can see the orange look like sponge curlers, but I can't figure out the green ones. http://www.flickr.com/photos/rachelaugusta/2880233419/ Thank you!

    Eccentrics

I don't mind "eccentric." I mean, there are a lot worse things to be called! Besides, "eccentric" has a nice, British-y old fashioned flavor to it.

    Vintage Telephone Ringtones

My ringtone is just one that I recorded off of a movie. It's Stanley Laurel from the "Music Box" shouting "He don't want me, he wants the other monkey - YOU!" It is both hysterical and a little awkward when it rings in a quiet room.

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

I really think what kind of comment is going to depend on what kind of crowd you're in. In my experience any woman under 50-ish are probably going to glare or pretend that you're not there. If they're over 50 they'll probably just smile. Men under 50 will just flat out ignore me. But men over 50...

    Grateful for The Fedora Lounge

I'm very grateful for having found the Fedora Lounge. I found it when I was just starting to dress retro (and not really getting much encouragement) and it was such a tremendous support when it came to leaving the house for the first time with pincurled hair and nylons!

"See your dentist twice a year": Products That Changed Our Habits

I remember reading in "The Dirt on Clean" that in 1914 Listerine's advertising first brought attention to society the bane of bad breath. Up until that point nobody really cared!
