I also went the new Indy movie this past week, and just for fun, decided to don a tan, lightweight 50's Borsalino, which itself does not try to be an Indy-clone, but it is similar in general appearance (at least to those who are not fedora aficionados - in reality, it's closer to a medium-crown...
Thanks for the info on the Adam lineage, guys!
:offtopic: I am eagerly awaiting my copy of "Hatless Jack", hopefully to gain a little more insight and details as to how we lost interest in the fedora. I would like to have a few references on the stuff we discuss here, but I'm not looking to...
Adam's aunts - and uncles?
Hmmm...an awful lot of coincidences for a good neighborhood...
When I first got that one, I too noticed that it resembled the Stetson outline and wondered if Adam was part of Stetson, like Mallory was later.
JP, wasn't Adam was an economy line of Miller back...
Oh, yeah...and...
Tony, is there a hat that you don't look good in??? :eusa_clap
If this keeps up, I will have to grow a VanDyke and get a few more hombergs...[huh]
I have a couple of Adams, and the brown one is easily as nice as any of my Royal Stetsons, at least for comfort and feel. The felt is firm but pliable, and seems to behave much like the Resistols, buit feel much lighter (cheaper??). How did they grade their quality levels - Superb, Majestic...
Well, I'm not sure of its origin, but I put it up at auction just to see what it will bring...I won't post a link since it is not permitted in these threads.
I made the trade for the hats and I'm just looking at a quick turnover only because I couldn't bring myself to wear fedoras that are...
Here are some pics and some dimensions. I would like some feedback on what it might be, and value range before moving it over to the Classifieds...
It fits like a 42 - 44 regular
waist 46"
sleeve - inseam 17"
sleeve - shoulder to cuff 25"
yoke - 20" shoulder to shoulder
yoke - bottom...
Well, Bob, I think that they may have thunk I was a yokel, and not knowing that I am a (former) cosmopolitan native of that great city, that I would be impressed with lotsa naughts behind them thar numbers for them thar hats...don't know if it was the hype or the truth...right up to the point...
Hmmm...let's just say Anthony (or was it Vincent?) wasn't happy when I mentioned that I had seen about 50 assorted panama bodies at a thrift here in Fla. for $5 each and knew not what they were...:rage:  :rage:  :rage:  [huh]
When I was at a certain unnamed hat shop recently (not in Florida...) I was shown naked, blank, panama bodies that cost $1500. Ripoff?? I dunno. Waayyy out of my price range ($5K for the finished piece) - definitely. I understand that some Ecuadorian craftsperson may spend a lifetime on a couple...
I'm a hat guy, not a jacket guy, but recenty acquired a B-3 -type jacket that has no labels, tags, etc. The leather is pretty decent and in great shape, the fleece is a bit matted, so it has a bit of age on it, the Talon zipper has a glitch in its continuity, and it has two regular pockets up...
P.S.
Hey, Squid...
Do you and funneman (you too, sharpetoys) ever get the double take seeing "FL" (Fedora Lounge) instead of "FL" (Florida)?...just me, I guess...
:offtopic:
Hmmm, I just looked at that one a few minutes ago...:eusa_clap
I passed on it simply because of the cleaning factor for the (what appears to be) water splotch in the center of the crown. It may look worse inthe photo than it does in person...
I hope it's a happy transaction; it's goos to...
Different Strokes...
I notice that there are many small differences in the "comfort zone" (fitting but not too snug) from one lid to another, even of the same size, depending upon the diameter (given), the amont of taper in the sweatband, and minor variations in positioning. I don't want to...
