Weight is fine for me. I have a couple plastic akubras that wear much hotter than the hemp. But I live in Georgia and am going to sweat under any hat I wear in the summer
In Brown...7 5/8
Bought it a couple years ago along with a natural one. Wife loved the natural but hated the brown one on me and it has literally never been worn for more than 2 minutes...I keep trying every now and again to see if she's changed her mind but no luck. Should of returned it right...
I've left mine shaped as it arrived, except for how it takes on a shape of it's own as the weather and wear take their toll. Down all around. Just "works" for me when I'm out in field and stream.
I can vouch for both Sam and the Tablelands. I've had mine several years now doing exactly what you describe. From fly fishing on the chattahoochee to pheasant hunting in South Dakota, it has handled snow, rain, humidity with no problem and still looks great. Wear in good health!
Over 1500 hi-res color images from the Great Depression era and into the 40's...not all contain hat-wearers but there are alot of great hats in their "natural" environment (read: heyday)...Here's the link:

Enjoy!
Certainly beautiful! I don't have much to offer in a smaller 1/2...would you be interested in one of the nos Adams that were auctioned off here a couple years ago? Similar dimensions in a grey?
I wear it as-is but wanted to make full disclosure. At one point, I toyed with the idea of getting the hat cleaned and re-blocked, the sweat sewn back in, trimming the brim down to 2 5/8 and adding an 1 1/2" grosgrain ribbon that would cover the majority of the moth damage...then decided to see...
