Yes, I would describe the Pecan as greenish. If a non-hat wearer who didn't really care were to ask me the color of my two fedoras, I would say "one is green or olive, and the other is kinda of a beige or goldish color."
Here is a post featuring my Fawn hat...
Your post popped up in my inbox, and it brought me back to the Fedora Lounge after a long time away. The hat on the right in the photo above is from Gannon and the color is Pecan. It's an older hat before Michael started using FESPA. I have a few Gannon hats, and one is western weight. The two...
I'd be curious to see if anyone has photo-worthy displays of how they store hats when you aren't wearing them.
Do you put them on a hat rack? A hook on the wall?
Does anyone hang their hats in an aesthetic display in their foyer?
BTW, is it fine to hang hats on a hook for days or week?
I disagree that you are disagreeing. I too don’t care what other people think but as I said in my post, I purchased a number of hats that I thought looked fine but over time I didn’t like them anymore because I developed a better eye and I realized it wasn’t the right hat for me. My point about...
First off, looks great. But wow, all I saw was that first photo and I thought "was this taken in Japan?" I hadn't looked at your location when I said that. Even though I think the average person wouldn't notice anything particularly non-American about that photo, I somehow thought "Japan" in a...
I have one other comment on how to order a hat...
I probably spent a couple thousand dollars on hats that I'll never wear again. I spent years wanting a hat that looked good on me, and I went to Optimo Hats here in Chicago, which has a wall of great looking hats. They ask your size, and then...
Here is my newest Gannon. Boy, taking a picture of a hat is a crap shoot. If you move an inch or two one direction or the other the color of the hat changes completely in the photo. This picture, on my screen anyway, captures the color fairly well, although not as good as seeing it in person...
Anyone have experience with the Atzi hat boxes advertised on Ebay? I'd like something that would allow me to put the hat in the overhead bin without getting crushed. I could also go with small leather suitcase, I guess, which would hold books, papers, etc. and then when I get on the plane I...
I am particularly taken by the shape of Truman's hat here.
I ordered two of my three Ganon hats unshaped, without creases. I really prefer what Michael calls the "casual crease" over a more permanent, steamed-in bash. What attracts my eye in a hat are the somewhat irregular, assymetrical dents...
Okay, first, the hat:
The key features here are the nearly vertical sides, as perhaps a 60 block, and the relatively sharp edge at the top, which distinguishes is from this hat (which I don't much like):
There is little taper on the sides of the hat, but this hat is very rounded up top. I...
Thanks for the perspective on the ventilation. I like wearing hats, but I notoriously overheat. I even overheat in my panama when it's 82 degrees. I recently purchased a fine looking boater...I'm hoping my body learns how to acclimate!
I apologize if this question posts twice...I don't know what happened to my previous attempt.
I have a question about the ventilation holes. Namely, do they make a significant difference in cooling things down? I have two Gannon hats and a third one is on the way. I would prefer not to put the...
I posted the photo below in the MC Gannon forum but I thought I should make a separate thread on this topic. For many years, I would watch old movies the loved the look of the old vintage hats, but I was always disappointed when I went to hat stores because to my eyes the standard teardrop bash...
Brent, sure, below I have pasted a portion of an email exchange with Michael Gannon, so you can hear it in his own words. I put one section of the email in bold because Michael and I share the same stylistic preferences when it comes to hat design, and the look he describes in the bolded section...
This is my second Gannon hat. It's a whiskey western weight with a lot of waterproofing wax. My first Gannon has not been steamed and I want to try my best not to get it wet because I don't want to activate the stiffeners. This is my snow/rain/fishing hat (when it's not too hot). The wax gives...
If anyone has any idea where I could find a hat maker with blocks who can make a hat like that, please let me know. I tried Northwest but he said he doesn't have the blocks to do it.
