Just saw the new installment in the Kingsmen franchise, The King’s Man. A typically great performance from Ralph Fiennes, in an interesting bit of historical fiction like Robert Downey’s Sherlock Holmes.
Though oddly framed in some sexual situations, the film is a fun adventure in the past with...
I can see that. I do like those differences in alter-ego, like nerdy Peter Parker to snarky Spider-Man. The alternative is the wealthy playboy default, so I’m glad they went with this as it fits the tone. It’s just the runtime that makes his justified pain and angst seem like redundant...
Just watched the new The Batman(2022), and I really enjoyed the change of pace for a superhero movie. Director Matt Reeves takes several thematic and visual cues from David Fincher’s Se7en in the depiction of its criminally insane antagonist and I haven’t seen that in a superhero movie of all...
I’m glad you like it. It’s not unwatchable, but I can’t get past the imitation of its own style. The laugh track and puppets were a level of camp that I feel didn’t get self-aware enough to reel itself in and ground the characters.
Let me know how you feel about the character arcs, Chevy’s...
The Green Knight is a film I managed to catch on showtime after seeing it on release. Interesting to try Arthurian Lore in such a mythological way, rather than the dramatic thrust many take with Arthur and Lancelot in a love triangle, but I think it makes it one of the most interesting and slept...
I’ve seen a few on Etsy, but most are dried so not a lot of oily polishing bones unless you ask and get lucky.
Sorry to hear of your brother’s passing. That sounds like a beautiful jacket, I love that J-57 minimalist rider’s style. I use sapphir beeswax cream and Skidmores seems like a similar...
Fair, he’s not for everyone and the talking over each other schtick can get annoying, but it still felt new because of it. No one else does things quite the same way as him and sometimes for good reason but it’s always a rager with Altman. Though another film of his turned TV show, Nashville, I...
I couldn’t really get into the show after falling in love with the Altman film, which is way more National Lampoon than war drama. I do love Alan Alda in the West Wing, but Donald Sutherland is who I think of as Hawkeye.
Ahaha, I know you joke but I was concerned my dog would steal my polishing deer bone. If it didn’t work surprisingly well I wouldn’t mention it at all. If you moisten and heat the leather the water will evaporate and shrink the leather fibers, but the leather will harden if it’s too dry so...
Those looks like stretch spots of stretching/folding. I’ve used a deer bone to smooth out wrinkles/piling up on a shoe/jacket. Not sure that’d help with this vest, but I imagine some leather oils would help along with some friction/heat like a brush or rag to distribute oils and maybe shrink it...
Didn’t get all the angles, but sufficed to say I’m very happy with how it turned out. Shined the nickel buttons and they look great. It didn’t reset it to new, but it gave the exposed tea core a darker tone that blends well and will no doubt wear more quickly. I was really impressed by the...
I agree, but at the same time I did it anyway. I figured it’d get beat back to shit in no time anyway. It’s dried some and it looks like the dye didn’t completely soak in, so there’s still a good amount of age showing. I’ll post pictures tomorrow.
Hello,
I’ve got a Real McCoy horsehide jacket I bought second hand and further beat to all hell. I’m thinking of applying some mustang paste to dry before using Saphir Medaille D’or to make it shine. I’m open to opinions on not doing it all or product replacement, just hoping for some guidance...
