You don't need to remove the entire liner to solve this problem.
I also have had an issue with the plastic dome on a liner sticking to the top of my sweaty bald head. So I just remove the plastic from the satin liner. You can very carefully cut around just inside the edge of the plastic...
To elaborate on Dr. Strange's comments:
The main difference between the Cattleman and the Stockman would appear to be that the Cattleman has a wider brim (3 1/4") that is bound, and that is flat across and downturned in the back -with no curl. The Stockman brim (2 3/4") is slightly...
Looks fine to me
Bushman Jack -
I don't think you have a problem here. There are many hats, including many Akubras, that incorporate that little bulge into the crown as part of the bash. Sure, maybe the Banjo is a bit neater without it, but it is not distracting or bad looking.
I have been...
I was the one that asked about the lightness on the crest of the crown - but wasn't ready to go for the hat at $100. Hope it meets your expectations. And yes, the bidding probably would have eventually gotten that high anyway
Enjoy it - and let's see photos when the hat arrives.
Lefty - Sharp eye. That is exactly right. Move one hat and another one wants to get bumped off its hook. But, other than that minor inconvenience, I am pleased with the rack.
Gene - The hooks are spaced well, but I did have to bend the metal a bit to get them all evenly spaced...
I recently found one of these brim trimmers on EBay, and now that it has arrived, the blade looks like it needs to be replaced. Anyone have any idea where I might find a replacement blade? I did not take a photo of the blade when I had it apart, but it's an odd shaped single-sided razor blade...
Thank you both! I am very pleased with this approach to storing my hats. It doesn't hold everything, but enough to limit the pile of boxes in the corner.
Wire hat rack from EBay
Bought this hat rack on EBay for barely $20 shipped. Works great, and now I am thinking of another one stacked above or below... (The wall looks so inadequate with just the 5 hats! :p ).
This is the seller's EBay store: http://stores.ebay.com/Mathews-Wire-Inc...
Dobbs Fifth Avenue from EBay last week
This was an EBay win from almost two weeks ago. It arrived last weekend and I have worked on cleaning it up and giving it a proper bash during the past week. I also posted a photo of me wearing the hat in the POST NEW HATS thread.
Vintage Gray Felt...
New Dobbs from EBay
Here is a Dobbs Fifth Avenue I won on EBay last week. It arrived over the weekend, and after some cleaning and reshaping, I am wearing it in the studio today as it dries.
The felt on this one is stiffer and thicker than my older Stetsons (much heavier than the Lee...
What a shame for us melon-heads! I watched the original auction for this beautiful hat with rapt attention, since I thought it was my size - and quietly applauded when you won it. Sorry to see it back on the block - although you really can't/shouldn't force yourself into such a nice hat that's...
Funny this topic should come up again today, as I was at the Troy Music Hall in Troy NY just yesterday for an afternoon concert. Each seat in the Hall still has this exact wire holder underneath it. I was ready for them this time! It was amazing to see how perfectly the brim slid right into...
