Hat sizes : Akubra vs. Borsalino vs. Stetson

Hi there, and greeting to the land of fine watches and chocolate! Really tough to say. In my opinion, there is a lot of variation even with one hat maker (try on multiple of the same model in the same size, and you will notice. In my estimation, the variation can be almost +/-1cm. Borsalinos...

NEW! Steele&Jones Indy Last Crusade The TANK style jacket (Smithsonian)

What a great looking jacket - just not sure about the size. I'm slim, would usually wear a 38 long or 40 long (ideally a European size 94). Have to measure myself at home, unless you have any suggestions.

FS Hückel Extra in black size 7 1/2

Very nice hat, and my size..... too bad it's so cold at the moment, could justify more easily if this was a winter hat. Will think about it.

How do you like your sweatbands?

I cast my vote for 2" and untreated, however I am actually not sure I know all types of treatment. Some sweatbands that are treated actually feel like plastic, while other are obviously treated but feel very nice. The untreated feel very comfortable and mold to the head nicely - I can see how...

How we might get past the "hat phase"

I'll post some pictures - soon ;-) It seems that for me what works best if I take something formal and put a slightly casual spin on it. Thanks for the encouragement!

How we might get past the "hat phase"

I can relate to this post. I grew up in a time and a household where pretty much nobody wore hats. We knew hats from pictures of grandpa. I've been wearing baseball caps for many years, and mostly to protect my scalp and face from getting sunburned. When I started doing that, I found that I only...

    Edward's Hats Chicago Mystery

Great research, love the documentation. The hats would fit me, the first one especially looks amazing - quite tall in the front, isn't it? Enjoy your hats!

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

So nice to see when we can still disagree on something and still get along. Need more of that!

New Stratoliner vs Moose River comparison

These are two very nice hats, indeed. I like a hat with a good taper, and they both seem very similar in that regard. The question for me would be: you say the Moose River is quite thick and stiff - that may be an issue if the oval does not exactly match. I get headaches easily if the hat is too...

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

Even at my above average age of 50 I am freshman when it comes to wearing hats. For a long time in my youth well into adult life, I never wore anything on my head - ever. Certainly not hats. In Germany at the time, it was very unusual for anyone to wear a hat. Only old "grandfathers" wore one...

Dark brown Borsalino Como fedora size 61

This is a gorgeous hat, fantastic condition it appears. I'm usually a 60.5 long oval - wonder if this one may be too big for me. for me there is a very fine line between too tight and too loose.

    Borsalino Folco 7 1/2

Wonderful piece. Do you estimate it is still at a size 60cm, or has it shrunk? A 60 would fit, however if shrunk it might be too tight.

Borsalino Renna. Qualità Speciale. Size 7 (61 centimeters) or 7 5/8 US

Gorgeous hat in a beautiful color. The size would fit for my misshapen head, however unsure about the narrow ribbon makes me wonder. The top of the hat would probably appear too tall/big for me, I feel more comfortable with a wider ribbon. I could have it shipped to either the US or to Germany.
