I just got my new bow tie from The Cordial Churchman, today. This time I opted for the Cecil, in a straight/batwing style (1 3/4"), which I prefer much more than the traditional butterfly.
I've always enjoyed how they take care to package their bow ties, so I thought I'd share the "unboxing."...
While I can't afford Allen Edmonds, I still find I'm able to find some nice shoes at places like Ross. I don't care much for the store, but occasionally it proves itself not completely useless, like when I found these Bostonian saddle shoes. Not vintage, but not bad for $35.
I just bought a pair of classic 8" L.L. Bean Boots for winter. I followed their sizing instructions to order one size down from your normal size, so I ordered size 7. I think I got the right size, but I find my toes a bit squeezed. Can I expect them to conform with a bit of wear, or should I...
My dad is getting married in November and he asked me to help him shop for a suit. Now, I have plenty of experience in ogling at suits for myself and what kind of sizing to look for to get the fit that I like (close to the body and form fitting) for my slimmer frame. My dad, however, is larger...
For once, Ross proves itself useful!
I found these Steve Maddens on clearance for $13.99. Nice chocolate brown suede oxfords with a man-made sole. They fit great, to boot!
(Forgive the iPhone captures)
A few months ago I was perusing about Vimeo and came upon a three-part documentary series called "Harassed Tweed." It details the rise of tweed, it's fall from popular style, and the controversy surrounding its definition and very existence. It's a fascinating story, really!
Episode 1 -...
A couple of months ago I stopped in at Pearl Specialty Market & Spirits. While perusing the wall of whiskies, one of the guys there suggested a bottle of Corner Creek Bourbon. I took his advice and never regretted it, it was simple amazing, and only $21 to boot! On a later expedition to buy some...
I made the mistake of going to Nordstrom Rack today...$110 later I walked out with not only a while, French-cuffed shirt, but (finally) a pair of black wingtip shoes. Nothing particularly extravagant, just Florsheims. They did have a few pairs of AE's, but even at Rack they still cost too much...
Here, more specifically. They seem to sell out fast, when they are in stock. I just got lucky one day. ^_^ They also have some similar full-leather brogues that I my aim for next.
After two week, my new ASOS brogues finally came, and better yet, they fit! The width is quite comfortable, which has been an ongoing issue every time I try on a pair of nice wingtips. I figure with the canvas they'll be a good summer option. I think the tricky part will be polishing them...
My feet are also in the wider side. I've tried on AE's before, but they are very uncomfortable in the toes. I swear they're made for people who are missing their little toes. >_<
I find that square toe shoes fit better...but I hate square toe shoes, from a style perspective.
The jeans and shirt came from Kohl's. The jacket is from GAP actually, though I had the sleeves shortened by a tailor.
The shirt is a soft denim by Croft & Barrow. A good Fall/Winter/Spring weight...and on sale for about 50% off ($16, if I recall).
I've been eying these leather and canvas brogues as ASOS for a while now and saw yesterday that not only were they back in stock, and in (what I hope is) my size, but also on sale. How could I not pull the trigger/click the button? I'm do hope they're a good fit. I think I would have preferred a...
I picked up a couple of new things at Kohl's yesterday and I'm giving 'em a go this morning.
Herringbone jacket, cream colored denim oxford, Levi's 501's (my first real pair), and Clark's Original Desert Boots.
