Does anyone have any experience in using the Jiffy ESTEAM handheld steamer for steaming straw hats? I have a Rowenta XLSTEAM + which performs miserably
I was afraid it would be a futile pursuit . Does anybody know a htter with inexpensive straw bodies who will block and shape to order? I've bought one in the past from Mike at NW. He's the best, but out of my budget.
Has anyone had any success reshaping a Panama hat crown? I have a PHD teardrop crown in good shaped. I also have a basic hand steamer. I'm trying to recreate that severe, angular creases found on older hats. I have attached a link to an eBay posting of what I'm looking for item number

I've bought two hats from him and I wear them the most of my custom hats. They're so malleable without being unstructured. I can put a diamond crease in the morning and change it to a teardrop for the evening. It's perfect for travel, smash it up on the plane, and quickly reshape it. I baby...
I have had two hats made by Mikael and out of all my Custom hats his are by far my favorites. Most hatmakers I have dealt with the process is; pick a felt, pick a style, send in measurements and 3 or 4 months later a hat arrives at your doorstep.
With Mikael it is much more of collaborative...

Beautiful hat! I have a beaver, rabbit and straw made by Mike; real masterpieces. He's the best shaper/ blocker in the business. Does he still have the ready to wear? They were a great value
I am happy with my Gannon Granite felt with 19 ligne charcoal ribbon. The quality is first rate, but I prefer NW Hats. Attached is pic of the Gannon granite
