BAH!
Good Grief the dormancy of this thread is absurd! I am personally going to sacrifice and review the not-so-new-anymore, Mohegan Sun Poker Room by the end of this month. I'll have to take a personal day off, but I'm prepared to go that far for the lounge...:p
I love tequila. It agrees with me and I have no trouble drinking it. But until recently, I've felt people have filed tequila in the non-connoisseuer dept, so I haven't purchased many varied bottles - just bought a fancy shot here and there when at a bar that specializes in the stuff...
not yet, though it's a goal for 2009 :) - either Las Vegas or the Dallas TV. There aren't quite as many Trader Vics anymore.
Oh - last night was a Vinho Verde - made me very tiltly and ill tempered, and not that tasty either.
I kinda have a "lady cave"
It all started with the massive stress of a bathroom remodel. Contractors in and out all day and night, dust everywhere, raw wood. I couldn't take any more house history, so we made a room that had nothing to do with turn of the century vernacular architecture in...
I'm probably going to be up wrapping presents with WGBH jazz on the radio. Since the Fall I've listened to nothing but economic news so this will be a soothing change of pace. I hope they play the Aaron Neville version of "Silent Night" - a guilty pleasure!:o
Yes, this is what I was thinking as well. Now my local liquor shop won't look at me like I have 2 heads when I ask where the pimento dram is (not that I've ever had it, or found it, but there are many drinks that call for it). Only time will tell.
I hesitate to link this until I fully invest in Diageo, but the cat's out of the bag anyway.
What does everyone think of this? Good news or bad? Will a well made drink be easier to find, or will this produce a number of broke Wall St. nits at your favorite bar? I think it's a good thing...
The Day of the Locust (1975)
This is one that many have missed but it is one of my favorite films. A really great performance by Donald Sutherland, and it has those funky seventies film effects that make everything look misty and/or hottish. A pretty decent adaptation of the book as well, and...
This idea sort of reminds me of the old 1970's faux deco store Big Biba, but, minus the giant lease and operating costs Biba had. I wish I could have visited the store just once. Biba too, opened up right about when a giant recession hit.
This kind of sentiment makes me throw up in my mouth...
I've always been capitvated by this one of Truman Capote. Although it doesn't seem to be as admired as the Harold Halma photo on the original jacket of "Other Voices, Other Rooms." The image of Capote askew, in the natural world or in a staged nature, always brings me back to that book.
One item I really want is the Abbott and Costello: The Complete Universal Pictures Collection! I've watched "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" more than any grown woman should ever admit to, and then there are 14 other discs to consume! I really can't ask for anything more from life. I...
I'll add these...
Quai des Orfevres
Friday After Next
A Midnight Clear
The MST3000 breakdown of "Mitchell" (also known as "A Very Special Joe Don Baker Christmas" in our house)
The Painkiller
I've decided that this is a Christmas drink, probably because one has the option of dusting the top with nutmeg, and it doesn't violate my no dairy rule.
4 oz Pussers Navy Rum (diehards will complain if you substitute)
3 oz pineapple juice
1 oz orange juice
1 oz coco real...
Hello ladies! In my never ending quest for cheap goods online, I see that Torrid.com is having a MASSIVE clearance on the clearance stuff. I've never ordered from them so I can't chime in on quality, customer service, or fit, but since they've been mentioned here I thought I'd point it out...
