InStainedWretch, when I saw your post about Curtis being a fencer that scene did come to mind :) It's been along time since I've seen that movie, but it's one of my favorites for a rainy Sunday when there is nothing else you can do..
And Worf, you are right about the PT Boats, and SUBMARINES...
Stearman, THE SAND PEBBLES, such a great (albeit melancholy) movie about a guy that just wants to do a good job, and be left alone, but society won't let him. And the BAR, what a great rifle (as long as you don't have to carry it more than 100 yards). I remember seeing that movie when it first...
InStainedWretch, that's really cool info. Probably most about Tony Curtis whom I'd never have guessed to be a good fencer. I've taken a few fencing lessons, but alas it was too far away to really enjoy the time it required and to allow for the practice that is necessary. It truly is an art...
Well, over the years I've vacillated on this. For years POLO GREEN was my favorite, then it seemed everyone wore it. So I switched to Col Ichabod Conk's Amber and Bay Rum. Both great fragrances, and really not very well known.
But I've come back to Polo Green for the last couple of years, as...
There was a great thread here, and I can't find it to save my soul. But it was about the top button hole on the left lapel of your jacket being for the "button from your hat" so you could button your hat to your coat on windy days.
I just saw someone bring this up in another forum the other...
Well, I've ordered myself one of these in Tawny, and Stetson Chatham, in grey/caribou, and a Stetson Temple in grey, and a Dobbs of some sort with a 2 3/4 brim in brown. And of course a Stetson Retro in Panama,
Any ideas on what hat Hamilton Burger is wearing in this photo. I saw it the other night on "Perry Mason" and thought, "That is one of the greatest looking hats I've ever seen"...
Well sir, I've not shot anyone. However, I have had a drug crazed idiot come into my home (I'd just returned from bicycling, it was dusk, and I'd jumped in the shower), when I got out of the shower, I heard voice(s) at my front door. I couldn't find my glasses, but did wrap a towel around me...
Ok, I have for the last 4 or 5 years worn the Saville Row, Gold S-R Oval 43-22 #8165... Now I am told they don't have this frame anymore. They have the Walmer that's close.
Any ideas where I can find the frames I used to have? (I like them because of the gold content and they don't react...
The Pinks that the officers wore were really great looking trousers. And most of the enlisted men really like the look and most I've talked to of that era, (most are gone now), thought the pinks were the best looking trousers in the military...
Well, I like my pants a shy bit longer than good fit. I like having the back of the press come down between the heel and the heel counter. I recall in the late 70's with the more flared leg pants, they'd taper them about 1/2" from the front to the back giving the perfect break on the front...
I was just looking at the Trench Coat thread, and I see it is closed. But if you look at the one picture of Gregory Peck in the Trench Coat, look at the break in his Trousers over his shoes. Couldn't be more perfect...
