Yep, that's why Flitcraft and I are looking to get homburgs to go with our tuxedos. The next step up would be the top hat, which I think should really be reserved for full dress (white tie).
Perhaps I just can't handle the cold as well as some, but I think the only nicer hat that would have been appropriate for the masses who were outside for hours (about eight in my case) would be a nice ushanka. I don't have one, so ended up wearing a heavy wool beanie. I was also wearing two...
I can't understand this... I haven't experienced it with hats, but I've seen security tags punching holes in the delicate fabric of some clothes. A month or so ago, I was with a friend who was buying a dress at an upscale department store. They're selling dresses that cost hundreds of dollars...
Sounded like a great idea. I was hoping that was my problem, and that I really was a 59. Would have explained things. Alas, my tape's spot on. Thanks for the tip though!
I heard that an old photographer's trick is to carry an old flash, which can be used to temporarily blind someone. Funny how some of the most photogenic locations are also the most seedy.
This has probably been addressed before, but I have no idea how to search for it. I think the word "fit" is too short for the search engine. Anyway, how do you like your hats to fit?
Just getting into this, I'm not exactly sure how big my head is. Physically, that is! I measured it with a...
Warbaby,
I'm in the same boat as Chuck: new member, can't send PM's yet. I'd love to give Number 3 (the "wearable" sunglasses) a shot though. If you're so inclined, you can reach me at lonethistle at gmail.
Thanks for the offer!

I've tried quite a few inks, and my favorite has to be Aurora's blue ink, which approaches blue-black. It's a joy to write with, no matter the pen (some pens seem to be a bit particular about their ink). Nice color, too.
If you're going to be signing the next Declaration of Independence, and...
Hi all,
I just won a pair of vintage sunglasses on ebay:
They were too cool to pass up, but I know nothing about them, other than that they're from Sweden. Anybody have a clue as to what time period these might be from? I'd appreciate any info you guys might have!
Thanks,
Greg
It is something to think that all of those hats are so close. I thought jonnyphi was going to sell on ebay though? I haven't read the thread today, but last I checked nobody's convinced him to open a hat shop in his living room.
Jonnyphi, still planning on selling them all on ebay?

Argh! UPS now says my delivery has been rescheduled... have to wait until Tuesday. Anyone know if the hat stores around here are any good? Decent prices? The only one I know of is in Georgetown. Last time I was there, I knew even less than I do now about hats, and everything seemed expensive...
My ideal hat... that's a hard one, since different occasions call for different hats. I would love the occasion to wear a top hat with white tie, but I don't see that happening soon. So for now, since I generally dress pretty casually (often jeans, button-down shirt, wool coat or a sport coat...
So who are the cap wearers around here? I have trouble finding ones that fit around here. Usually nothing more than "Country Gentleman" brand, which I don't particularly care for in terms of fit. I've a relatively large head - 7 1/2 if my measurements are correct, and if I can find a cap that...
Hey, that's the kind of Panama I'm really drawn to. I'm not ready to take the plunge yet, but it's going to be a hard decision between an Optimo and something more "standard". How many panamas do you have?
