Thanks.
Although I must say my goal isn't to look like I'm Travis Bickle or a modern day cowboy or anything like that. I don't wear the jacket very much, if at all. It's just nice to have it. The belt - I would wear, but by itself it wouldn't make me look like Bickle.
Wow, thanks a lot! That first one is very similar. It's just a shame it's gold - the Bickle one isn't and, probably more to the point, I don't think I could see myself wearing a gold one. The second one is interesting too, pretty similar.
I know what you mean about there being nothing about...
I see a bit of controversy has sparked up while I've been away. The joke didn't offend me at all, although at the same time it wasn't very funny because, as someone else pointed out, it wasn't really accurate and kind of seemed a bit out of place coming straight after my request. No problem...
Hi again,
I say 'again' because the last time I was here, I was looking for help finding the tanker jacket 'Travis Bickle' wears in the movie Taxi Driver. (http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=28356) Thanks to the tips and advice I got here, I managed to track down a very good...
I had an interesting experience with WPG. I reviewed a tanker I bought from them on their site and gave it three stars, yet when my review was added it was magically a FOUR out of five star review. Hokey.
I'm sure they're okay though.
To order the patches I just emailed them in English. They responded in English too - even offered me extra fast postage, which I accepted. The postage for the jacket was probably about £35. Can't quite remember, but it was around there. :) The whole thing, including Juno's fee, was about £300...
Hi again.
I've had the jacket for a few months now (received it in April). It's great--spot on. I'm really happy with it. I'll try to take some photos of it and post them. Until then, here's the site I (or Juno) ordered it from...
That's interesting. Unfortunately, I can't find the one you mean on eBay. I'd like to see it though. A quick update on the status of my search: I've now ordered a Real McCoy screen-accurate Travis Bickle Jacket from http://www.realdeal-rd.jp/, through Juno's middleman service. Cost a lot, but...
Hi fardin,
Yeah, I emailed c-king but unfortunately they are sold out of this jacket. It still looks like my best bet will be to wait until May, when the makers have new stock, then order either through bid-service.jp or, if I'm able to pay somehow (it says they can't take credit cards)...
Edward: Thanks for the interest! Well, the current status of my little 'project' is 'on hold'. Through talking with Juno, who operates a middleman service through bid-service.jp, I found out that Real McCoy, the makers of the exact replica of the Taxi Driver jacket, have sold out in all stores...
Elmonteman: Can I ask how you found the site http://item.rakuten.co.jp? It seems to be a portal through which one can search for lots of Japanese clothes. Is this right and, if so, do you know of any other Japanese sites which are similar?
Thanks guys. Your info and guidance has been really helpful. I think I'm either going use the bid-service site or go for the jacket offered by History Preservation. :)
Hi,
I've been trying my best to order a certain jacket from Japan (a Taxi Driver inspired tanker), but have hit a brick wall. Real McCoy's only sell their jackets within Japan. I've called them and spoken to them (with some difficulty!) to ask if there is any way they could help out, but...
I think I'll pass on your jacket, Alan. I'm going to try and find one that's a closer colour match to the original. Thanks anyway though.
Rufus: I'd like to contact Asiamiles on the VLJ forum. However, my account still hasn't been activated there, so I can't access the forum to get in touch...
Rufus: Thanks for the advice. I'm definitely going to try to get in touch with the member you mentioned who lives in Japan - that could be a way of shipping one of the Real McCoys outside of Japan.
Alan: Your offer sounds good. Is this the jacket you have? http://www.smwholesale.com/0062.html
Well, that's what I was hoping someone here might know. All I know about the origins of the original jacket is that it was given to De Niro to wear in the movie by Paul Schrader, who wrote the screenplay. De Niro's character was meant to be a Vietnam veteran, so I don't know if that could be of...
