Several years ago, a college professor here in southern California found a high school graduation test from the 1800s and give it to his college sophomores. None could pass it. Just think about life in the 1800s - no electricity, no cars, no refrigeration. Much more time was needed to eat...
It works if the jeans are like new and the sport coat does not look like part of a suit. I bought a sport coat in Laguna Beach last year which is dark blue, and made of wool, silk, and cashmere. It works very well with jeans or tan casual pants, as well as black dress pants.
I will be giving a presentation on Los Angeles radios on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California on Sunday, August 21 at 10:00am. I will have restored radios to show and play, and a slide show. This is part of the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles three day event on the Queen Mary. Yes, I will be...
The SSTrans transmitters are the best. You will not regret getting one. You do have to assemble it, so need a soldering iron and some solder. It is easy. I have the AMT5000 version. Any transmitter is going to work dramatically better with a good ground. That does not mean the third prong...
Did you ever find one? I'd also like to find a good one. I miss my 1984 Ekornes chairs, but after spending too much to have them recovered and the new leather not being as good as the old, I finally got rid of them a few years ago. The separate ottoman design also required too much space...
Buying some more copies of the wonderful best-seller The Millionaire Next Door and finding one of them signed by the late Dr. Stanley was a wonderful surprise.
You might also enjoy reading a book I just finished, as I learned quite a few things I'd not previously known. It is How The Catholic Church Built Western Civilization by Thomas E. Woods, Jr.
Another excellent book I recently enjoyed is Freedom's Forge, subtitle How American Business...
The beauty and variety of "antique" radios will be on display in Orange on February 20 when the Southern California Antique Radio Society holds its auction. Colorful plastic radios, beautiful wood radios, ornate floor-standing console radios, "ham" radios, and military radios are expected...
If it has a power transformer and the chassis is hot, there is definitely a significant defect, as it was not designed that way. Any old radio which has not been serviced by somebody who knows what they are doing should not be plugged-in. It is best to cut off the cord and throw it away.
I'm focused on finishing the radios I have, so have only bought three this year.
The Balkeit F is finished. It works so well that I had to cut the antenna wire down to just over a foot, or it is too loud with the volume control all of the way down receiving my transmitter. I have a thread...
Please post the photo(s). I bought what I think is a 1929 Belkeit in a lowboy cabinet yesterday. Why do you think your radio is too far gone to fix? I strongly suspect it could be fixed. Here is my radio:
I finished this Zenith 7-S-449 chair-side a few days ago:
I'm also active...
Why? is it your listing you are pushing?
Yep, the labels may be a bit wider on the older suit than on the new JCP example I quickly located, but I just looked at my 1987 Armani DB suit, and the lapels look every bit as wide as on that example from EBay, plus the pants are pleated. My main...
