Great hat. Your pics capture the color shift of the whiskey felt pretty well, too--from the bright, sort of caramel-brown, to darker, to olive. My whiskey Gannon shifts in a similar way. It can be tricky to photograph.
I posted this in "What Hat Are you Wearing" because, well, I'm wearing it today, but have been told that it should go here, too. Here goes: I received my (very early) birthday and Christmas present yesterday: this whiskey-colored beauty from Gannon. I couldn't be happier with the hat or with the...
Thank you. I wanted something that balanced dressy and everyday, and that was different from my others--hence the flat and rolled brim, and the sort of intermediate ribbon (I have two Stratoliners and two with "regular" ribbons). The dimensions differ from anything else I have, too. Like I said...
I want to say he initially quoted 5 weeks. That extended a bit because he had to order the felt, and the supplier was out of stock. Even with that, I received the hat 7 weeks after I said "let's do this," and he stayed in communication through every step of the process.
I received my (very early) birthday and Christmas present yesterday: this whiskey-colored beauty from Gannon. I couldn't be happier with the hat or with the process leading up to it. I doubt this will surprise anyone, but Michael was wonderful to work with.
Too hot to wear it, but I did some more work on my custom bargain-that-wasn't. Actually, that's a little harsh: it has never looked bad, but I think it's finally becoming the hat it has always wanted to be. It has been an educational ongoing project, too.
I never liked the original bow, but I...
Camping, and it is just cool enough to call for a hat. I went with my acorn Stylemaster. We've had an actual summer this year. It's been nice, but I'm about done with it. .
I can't wait for the weather to change so I can utilize and enjoy my hats again. In the meantime, I've been working on this one: an Etsy "bargain" that has never truly clicked for me. After finding inspiration in two places ( a biography of Oppenheimer and a pic of my great-great-great grandpa)...
And it looks like you're in Albany, too. I live in Salem and teach in Scio.
Aimee is based in upstate New York. I took a gamble on her because she was a little less expensive than the Oregon hatters you mentioned, and promised a faster turnaround. I am happy with the hat, but there were issues...
I finally received this dark moss Fedora made by Aimee of Hopsie Hats: 24 1/2 inch circumference (big melon), 4 1/2 to 4 inch diamond-bashed crown, 2 1/2 inch brim. It is my first custom and first beaver-felt hat. The side and especially rear points of the diamond were softer than I wanted, so I...
Found it! Thanks for pointing out this hat/ribbon combination. It does look great. The shade of the hat is a little surprising. Does it shift (specifically, does it look darker or browner) in other environments?
Not sure if this is the write thread, but here goes:
I've just put in an order for a dark moss custom, 4 1/2 inch crown, 2 1/2 inch brim. The swatch is very dark and rich--which is what sold me--and seems to shift along a brown-green spectrum depending on the lighting, the color behind it, etc...
That is a great looking hat. I'm waiting on swatches for a possible custom purchase, and whiskey is on my short list. I love how that color looks in natural light.
Long-time lurker, first-time poster.
Today, it's the combined Christmas and birthday present from my lovely wife: a Caribou Stratoliner that feels a little better on my giant head every time I wear it. The file cabinet behind me often serves as my "hat rack," hence the "Don't Touch the Hat"...
