Last week, I went out of state for my grandfather's funeral. I packed up my newest and nicest suit, the one I've only worn twice, the one that fits me best and feels just awesome on me. 200 miles later, I open up the bag to see a glaring hole in the fabric that matched up perfectly with a zipper...
Does a black fedora with a silver band look good on a medium gray suit? Thinking of getting the Biltmore Park Ave, which will probably only be worn with that one suit. The shirt and tie to go with it will vary. And does anyone know for sure if that's a silver band? One retailer mentions a silver...
Two hats I bought recently simply don't fit. One is a Scala Classico, wool with side vents and about a 2" snap brim in black. The other is a Bailey Billy in white. They are labeled Large/59, and my head measures at 58.5, but sizing tape most of the way around still doesn't make it fit snug...
Yes, that would be nice. I saw some in a Goorin Bros. shop not too long ago, but was hoping for something a little less pricey. I did find a "Campbel Cooper" hat from England on the Bay for $35, but no idea if it's at all worth while.
Any recommendations for a decent crushable straw fedora (preferably around 2-2.5" brim) that won't break the bank so I can feel confident stuffing it in my backpack on hikes and other outings?
The brim is a little too stingy for me, but if anyone wants a size 7 3/8 Borsalino Diamante in gray with a 1 3/4 brim and 5 1/2 crown, have at it.

Or one in size 7 1/2 in black...
Yeah, I have narrow shoulders and am convinced I look silly with anything over 2 1/4". The seller responded to my question with a ruler showing 2" on the brim and 4.5" crown height, but I forgot to go back and bid. I'll have to keep looking for my first "vintage" purchase.
Yes, I already have a handful of hats on my eBay watch list, and browse Etsy as well. I waited on pulling the trigger until I got into a hat shop though, because I wanted to make sure I knew what looked good and fit well on me. I've already learned that a deep center dent and short crown is...
If I don't look attractive to her, what's the point? ;-) I think I'll just buy a hat with 1/4" bigger brim every time so she won't notice!
Oh, and I misspoke. The hat I ended up with is a Stefano. The guy at the shop said that even a crushable hat will lose its shape if it's gets crushed too...
Thanks again for all the advice, suggestions, and offers. I made it down to Hollywood Hatters today and Sal was very helpful, listening to what I wanted and what for. Between his advice and texting pics to my wife, I settled on a Capa with a 2" brim and a center dent. She felt I looked silly in...
Much appreciated! I'll be more certain once I try on a few different brands and sizes, but I measured my head at 58cm and my size medium hat feels a tad too snug. So, probably 7 1/4. I do browse the classifieds, but nothing so far in this short week that I've been addicted.
Village Hats is too...
