Hi All, wanted to say thanks to all that have contributed. Some of you asked to see the full back of the coat, so here is that image.
In regards answering some of your questions:
- Yes, I drive/sit a fair bit with this jacket. If that is the case that the back of jacket looks like this because...
Hello Everybody
It has been a long time since I posted here about considering my first Aero jacket. 2016 to be precise. I'm coming up on 9 years of owning a teamster and I have questions that I'm hoping people can help me with.
Notes about my jacket:
- The jacket is an Aero Teamster in Dark...
@Fanch I take your point. I've been wavering between my proposed modification and the standard back. And certainly some of the people here think it might not be a good idea, I guess in the end it all comes down to comfort for me, comfort in wearing and comfort in the style that I'm wearing...
Query to all that have bi-swing backs on their jackets. I realize that they can be a good thing for movement if your jacket is buttoned or zipped up, but I was wondering if they make much of a difference in terms of day to day wearing if you don't zip/button your coat.
Just wanted to say thanks to the various people on the forum for they opinions and suggestions. All of it helps towards an informed decision. Ultimately what I want is a coat that I feel comfortable in and can wear for a long time during the year, and a coat that I want to wear. So all this...
Yah, I'm leaning towards the dark seal (today anyways LOL!) just because I like the rich nature of the colour. I'm a bit worried about how it will age though, if it will lighten in colour dramatically or stay that deep rich dark chocolate colour.
@Janx Thanks for the input. I'm 6"4" at 215 lbs, not a big guy by any stretch, but for me the fit coat they used for the 1920s just wasn't working. a.) because I do like to layer to get 10 months out of the year and the 1920s didn't seem to accomidate that as well. b.) between the fit coat for...
I actually took a day and went down to seattle to try on coats. Unfortunately they didn't have a 44 in a HWM (what they use for a teamster fit jacket) so Carrie put me in a 46, which felt ok. But it was FQHH and felt a bit like wearing a suitcase. I was wearing a sweater and I wanted to feel...
@Fanch
Definitely going for the Vincenza just not sure if I'm going with Dark Seal or Black. I've been staring a samples for days, trying to get a sense of what colour change (if any will happen). Anyways, it's good to know that it is being well recieved by the community.
@Fanch
Thanks for that detail about your length of your teamster. I'm 6' 4" and my length came out to being 30". was wondering if that was too long (seems to be in the right ballpark). The climate where I am is fairly mild year round, and I hope that I can get around 9-10 months use out of it...
@wdw I asked Carrie that and she cautioned against it, that the coat wouldn't 'wear' properly. As well the issue I had with it was the slim nature of the arms and the high nature of the arm holes. Not sure if that would be changed by going up a size. All this is somewhat moot anyways because if...
@Sockeye That looks like an interesting choice, bringing the bifold back up more, might even increase movement around the arms a bit more.
@dan_t Thanks very much for letting me know that about Aero, I appreciate a company that will "just say no" to something they think is going to ruin the...
ok, well Carrie seemed to think it wouldn't be a problem to modify the teamster that way, double checking with aero just to make sure. Oddly enough I think I'm less sure now then when I posted the original question. Interesting to see how much an opinion can sway because of others.
One thing I did forget to mention. I never button my jackets, I mean never ever, not even an torrential downpour will button my jacket. Dunno if that factors into the vent being open or not, but I forgot to mention it in my original post.
@wdw yah, I know. It's a good all purpose general style though so I'm ok with it that way, It's just the western style point yoke and the way the bi-wing style angles down to give the back a sort of "V" shape that I'm not a fan of. Just don't know if I'm not a fan of it to the extent that I want...
@ProteinNerd. Thanks for that! I was wondering if the stitched closed version limited range of movement, so thanks for that. Just curious have your had many jackets where you've modified them and felt anxious about doing so? Nice looking 1930s half belt btw.
@jpk_NJ good point about the vent and how much the coat has been broken in. There are other styles that have a front straight yoke and a curved rear yoke so I'm not overly concerned about that. But nevertheless it is a good point.
@wdw Thanks for the info on the vents. I'm a fan of the longer...
@ Carlos840 I know I'm worrying too much! I do trust Carrie, she is an amazing sales rep, but to order something that costs that much and not have a sense of how it will fit, gah!
No mr. universe here. Just a gangly tall man :)
Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster here :)
Here is the dilly. I’m looking at getting my first Aero Leather Jacket and was looking for a little input.
The style I’ve settled on is the Teamster. I’m looking for a jacket that I can wear about 10 months of the year and is useable for work...
