It's been a while since I last visited. Though, I do wear hats and berets daily—berets more often than not. This Aotearoa Txapeldun (thank you Daan) has been getting a good bit of wear time as one of my foul weather berets. From the looks of me, I still haven't woken-up from my hour and a half...
Heh. I'm on a roll here. I received a happy package from the Land of the Long White Cloud, the other day. It had two new, nifty berets in it. Two Foulards Aotearoas, to be exact. A 31 cm "fox" color (I dig this color) and a Txapeldun (I'd love to know how to pronounce that)! Spring hasn't really...
My first "real" beret. A Laulhere Hoquy, which seems to be the one beret that Laulhere sends out to hat shops. At least, that's the model I always see on line when a hatter sells a high-end beret.
High-winds predicted today and I wanted a lid that would stay on my head without my having to...
Good idea right there.
Since I've been working in downtown DC, I've noticed an uptick in men wearing non-baseball style hats. Some wool and fur fedoras, but mostly "outback" styles.
Two years ago, you wouldn't see a man wearing a beret. These days, I've been noticing guys wearing them. Not a...
Well, it’s been a spell since I’ve posted a photo and I wear Bérets more often than not. This is the wunnerful Wooly Mammoth from a couple a days ago. Super soft, very comfortable and the color is great.
This 310 and some same sized Auloronesa's (different colors) get the bulk of my head time. I don't know, but they behave and wear as you'd like them to and they have enough size to be exceptionally useful. That, and the felt is hard to beat and takes a beating. They're the sweet spot in my beret...
Concerning "wearing it the same way all the time," no. As Daan explained, I always wear it front to back, but what the weather is doing will dictate which one I wear and how I wear it. Raining? Large plateau pulled forward to keep my glasses dry. Blowing like stink? To keep from having it turn...
The only shrinkage I've experienced is in the sweatbands of my two Laulhere's that are fitted with them. I have to keep stretchers in them as I rotate lids too often and don't wear them every day to keep them stretched out.
The dinner plate idea is a good one. I'll remember that should I get...
I don't know about other folks, but the Auloronesa's are my absolute favorite. As long as the quality (and qualities) of the beret don't change, I'll be all right with things. Glad to know they are, and will still be, produced.
Just as a by-the-by, I accidentally left (one of) my Auloronesa's...
I agree, almost entirely. They're always my "go to" when it's a just a quick grab one and go. The 295 or 310, usually. Probably should snag a 280—just because.
Though, I did just order a Laulhere Bayadére Isturitz. Thought I'd try another beret with a headband.
By the way Daan, the pink went...
