I'm working on getting into the Historic Preservation masters program at USC (some schools call it Public History) - something like that would be perfect for a history major....
Good luck!
The Black Dahlia, Elizabeth Short, is buried at the Mountain View Cemetery, and also Victor Bergeron, founder of Trader Vic's!
I used to live just down the street and loved taking walks though there in the afternoons. Such a gorgeous place.

Oh how interesting!! Small world.... What was his name?
Well, I had never heard of Bob Burns either until recently! The other weekend we watched one of his movies, "Waikiki Wedding," with Bing Crosby. I thought it was great! Of course, any movie with dreamboats like Bing Crosby is okay...
I don't normally watch award shows, but this year's theme was "80 Years of Oscar" or something like that, so my boyfriend and I watched it because his grandfather hosted the Oscars in 1938 - we were hoping they'd have some mention of him somewhere, but in the host montage there was so sight of...
I think it's 15....I don't want to be a nuisance and just post for the sake of posting, but I should be able to accomplish four relevant posts within the next couple of days so I can start PMing - will that work? I'm pretty shy so I tend to not post, but I'll try to get over that for now. ;)...
I just saw this over the weekend and LOVED it! I've been meaning to see it since I saw the exhibit at the MOMA sometime last year.
This weekend I also watched two pretty sordid documentaries on the lives and deaths of old Hollywood stars - such as Errol Flynn, Fatty Arbuckle, Bing Crosby etc...
I crochet and knit too!! I love it, it's so relaxing. I haven't made anything too complex yet though - I taught myself out of books and usually stick to making scarves and afghans. Right now I'm crocheting an afghan for my sister out of multi-colored granny squares and it's turning out pretty...
Oh, thank you!! I don't know anyone else who plays, so I've been considering lessons just to make sure my technique isn't too far off-base and to get some pointers. I'll definitely ask your friend for advice. Thanks again!
Anyone here play the ukulele? I received one for my birthday (that's it in my icon) and have been trying to teach myself - so far I've gotten through "Surfer Girl" by the Beach Boys but that's it!
I also play some electric guitar and bass but I'm way out of practice.
I will definitely post a little something about it! I don't know how many other Ellroy fans are on here but he's one of my favorites, I can't wait to hear what he has to say.
Hey, my third post! Just thought I'd chime in on this thread, as my Christmas was really nice. Disneyland annual passes for my boyfriend and me, and as a present to myself I reserved us seats on the James Ellroy-guided Los Angeles bus tour coming up this Saturday. I am so excited...
I posted an introduction in the Powder Room "new ladies" thread but thought I should post one here as well - so, hello to everyone!! I love anything vintage and this forum has been an amazing resource. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it!
Another newbie...
Hi everyone! Just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself - I'm Loryn, I live in L.A., and was introduced to this place via my boyfriend. I really love it so far, thank you for letting me be a part of it. ;)
I have been interested in vintage style for almost two...
