Well rain at night is another one of the exceptions. It's a rule I picked up from someone who worked with royalty...or at least I think I did, I'm 90% sure I did, and since he has long since passed I can't simply asked him. I figured I'd throw it out here and see if it had any weight. Then...
This was in part spurred by the dumb comment thread. It's about keeping your hat on. I was always thought the proper way is when indoors you take your hat off. Also, I thought that unless it is cold outside, one does not wear a hat at night. I always thought these were the official rules of...
That Rabbit felt is an attractive price. Do you send out a conformateur to the customer? I've measured myself as a 64.5, but I can't be certain that is the correct size since I can't actually try on a hat large enough to fit. Also, is Rabbit fur still fairly water resistant? I've decided what I...
It looks like there are hats I like and hats that are my size, but none that do both. So, I guess I'll go without for now and one day in the future get one of the custom ones (law student = broke as a joke). Are they each known for having some unique style, or are they all more or less the same...
I don't work outside for a living, but on a typical day I do spend about 1.5hrs outside (otherwise I wouldn't even buy a hat since I wouldn't be spending enough time outside to need to be warmer).
So maybe then I don't need as winter weight a hat as I thought? Winter here means highs in the low 40s, lows in the mid 20s (but I don't spend much time outside at 3am so the lows that I'll be in won't be that low).
Is a Akubra Sydney warm enough for that? Also, I see David Morgan doesn't...
Interesting that the Como is a lightweight hat; a store in the northeast told me it's a winter weight.
How do Stetson compare to Borsalino, not bang for the buck wise, but simply bang wise? If they're better, maybe a Stetson Plaza?
Though...now that I look at more hats, maybe I've changed...
Well, the biggest I've been able to find in stores was marked XL 7-5/8 - 7-3/4 and that was too small, and when I measure myself I get 64.5, but that was using string and then lining it up to a ruler, so I figure I'd try 64 and if that didn't work I could judge if a 65 from Lock & Co would do it...
The hard part for me of looking at a website is that how do I know what brands are good without being able to feel it in person? I've heard Akubras are good, but I don't see any winter weight hats that they make that I like. I've seen so many bad comments about Borsalino on the net that I'm...
Hmmm, stylemaster doesn't look bad, but it appears to only go to 61. So...I take it by it's not yet being mentioned that Borsalino is not what it once was to the point of being plain old bad?
I should add btw, that while I like a bound edge, I don't necessarily mind a raw edge. Also, I really...
I need a hat, and I want a winter weight fedora. I want a plain original fedora, nothing unique, new, modern, or however you want to name it about it (though, I do fancy a bound edge). A color that goes with everything would be nice (almost never wear suits, something that would go with a...
