Have one identical from Shudde Bros. purchased off the bay a few years ago. It is labeled 7 1/8 but barely makes 6 7/8. Can't blame the seller but, is useless to me. I don't believe it shrunk, just mislabeled. Beautiful hat, pristine as yours and when I can devote some time to figuring out...
Welcome hurricane. I too have a Rand, several O'Farrell's, Stetsons, Resistol, and many other custom made. Met Rich Rand many years ago during rodeo time in Vegas, very nice gentleman.
I pretty much agree about the difference in quality between the two. So far 1 bluegrass and 2 silver belly. I'm missing a moonstone Campdraft in the lineup, I'll probably order one, even though I swore off buying any more hats. I have no need for tawny. Akubra Campdraft, as well as others in...
Bob, I am trying to post photos however since the new changes it seems I cannot. Keeps coming up as error, file too large. I'll try to figure it out, until then, the photos of the hat posted by WCBrown are identical to mine. Sorry.
I'm a little late posting my feedback about my CM Last Man Standing. Delighted with the hat, since WCBrown has posted photos I don't want to be redundant. You can't go wrong with one of their hats, nice quality and workmanship. If I had to nitpick, it's that they hand write in gold marker the...
I was a member of a clothing forum for brief period until I realized it was made up of, mostly, though not all, uptight anal people who believed they were the be all end all authority on things sartorial. Most of the members, spanning the globe, thought wearing fedoras was "Costume -y"...
Welcome bowtie. If you are a hat wearer and you like the hat, then I would certainly consider a re-size. I'm sure Graham at Optimo would accommodate you and you could discuss with him possibly restyling it if you prefer something different. I own 2 of Graham's hats and I am very pleased that I...
I, unlike Sol, no longer have my youth or good looks, add to that I'm a bit of an old dinosaur and don't even own an i-phone so can't take a selfie:(
Tough trying to hold an i-pad steady and taking a selfie. Perhaps one day.
Joe
Sol, welcome. You have youth, good looks and a desire to wear proper hats, all good attributes. Several styles will look good on you. Google Mellegari (sp.) hats in Italy, I think you might find something you'll like. I, like you, prefer tall square crown hats with moderate sized brims 2 3/8"-...
I think much of what has been said so far is true. Having been around during the 40's and 50's I would also add that, in part, the decline in hat wearing was due to the affordability of autos after the war. men increasingly spent/spend less time outdoors braving the elements in their daily...
I don't know. Does your hat have 2 designations as does mine? I found it strange. Still, if your happy with it that's what matters and at a decent price. I was not pleased with what happened to my hat but I'll try to reshape it and hope it turns out OK.
Regards,
Joe
I also purchased a Strat from hats in the belfry in cornhill at $174.00 some time ago, paper label says Premier, sweat says Royal DeLuxe. The problem I have with the hat is that it nosed in quite a bit at the pinch when I applied light steam to it when bashing it. At some point I'll try to blow...
