Recently made a variation of a trifold wallet in Horween Natural Shell Cordovan. Very happy with how it turned out. It is all hand stitched so it takes a bit of time.
Thanks! I am very pleased. He should be releasing his F/W 14 collection pretty soon here (along with a website update). I'm excited to see what he will be releasing.
Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I thought I would supply some picture comparisons of both Horween and Shinki Hikaku Shell Cordovan.
From my experience, Horween tends to have more variation in the thickness throughout the shell and the overall feel is much more waxy. Shinki Hikaku is...
Oh absolutely. Maybe I misunderstood you - sorry! They both have unique properties. I wouldn't say one is better than the other. It is definitely subjective.
This is a good assessment. Cowhide or steerhide will more often than not have a softer temper than horsehide which leads to it feeling more comfortable right out of the box. Horsehide does tend to feel more, as you said, cardboard-like. Once it breaks in, those properties will go away. Horsehide...
I'm not trying to be confrontational, but how much experience do you have handling both Horween's cowhide and horsehide together? They do in fact have significantly different properties, especially when it comes to Chromexcel. The pullup is very different with each and the tighter grain and firm...
I know it won't become obsolete but I've had an internal "struggle" lately about cell phones. I realize that they are a great tool, but I often find myself just looking at it if I'm not doing anything. I have been debating switching back from a smart phone to a basic flip phone.
I just played Cards Against Humanity for the first time on Halloween. Incredibly fantastic game.
We also played a game called "One Night" which I really enjoyed. It is a lot like Mafia except games last about 10 minutes (we played about 8 "rounds") and there is an iPhone app that can narrate...
I was hoping they would offer it in Bob's Chili too but unfortunately it doesn't look like they plan on it.
While I love my Walnut Calf Dalton's, I REALLY love the look of Bob's Chili. I would be interested to see what it looks like in person. From my experience, Allen Edmonds has a history of...
In my experience, I would highly prefer a horsehide jacket to a cowhide jacket.
Horsehide has fantastic properties that make it very desirable for any type of leather goods. Firstly, if you're mainly looking at Chromexcel, horsehide will have more of a firm temper than cowhide. It will be more...
Correct. Eelskin is pretty hit or miss with longevity. If you're really interested in eel, make sure it is lined properly with a solid leather and not something thin. This will make it last multiple years. You're also going to want to make sure that the edges are finished properly so no fraying...
Rider Boot Company just finished up clearing up a lot of their old inventory. They had some pretty unreal prices for some quality shoes and boots. These are the three pickups I made that I was very excited about.
Horween Natural/Whiskey Shell Cordovan Gunboats - These were priced incredibly low...
Hello everyone!
My name is Jesse and I am the one man operation behind Guarded Goods. I started this business over a year and a half ago. I spent a few weeks trying to think of a good name as I wanted it to have personal meaning to me as well as having some relevance to the consumer and what I...
