I see a lot of merchants selling on AliExpress, using photos of RRL merchandise. It's easy to rip a photo from somewhere and use it to market something you're selling, whether your actual merchandise is authentic or not. I think there's a lot of rampant knockoff/ripoff/piracy going on, and...
I just picked up this Orgueil OR-4002C Cossack jacket in black horsehide from a Mercari seller in Japan.

Delivery occurred earlier today.
Like most everything used I've bought from Japan, it is in amazing condition as though like new...
The half belt deluxe is one of their best patterns. The added front pockets give it practicality. I've been a fan for a few years. Yours does look like it was made for you. Nicely done.
I think it's more that they didn't have time to design and test, they needed to crank out gear ASAP, and they wanted big pockets so GIs could carry as much as possible.
Refinements came later, a lot of stuff went out nearly or completely untested, and the boys dealt with it as best they could...
I have a couple of pairs of them, in different variations from different repro makers. Bronson are good generally and I like their monkey pants. They did a run of modified ones with front pockets, lowering the side cargo pockets to make room them. I put nothing in the back pocket. The side...
I don't know, but I guess it's mostly fit issues and the reality of wearing a jacket through the breaking in period convinces a lot of people that it's not for them. Whatever the case, I've certainly bought a lot of nice jackets at deep discount because of it. And sold a number of them on as well.
Depends.
If it's still a production jacket you can order, order it. Wait for a sale if you want.
If it's out of production, you have no choice but to wait and search. Keep searching as long as it takes, or until you lose interest.
Mine are all around 6lbs, give or take, with the very heaviest weighing perhaps 7-7.5 lbs. Longer styles, cross zips, and motorcycle jackets are going to weigh more for obvious reasons. More material, heavier construction. Lining choice also factors in, the lighter cotton and wool weighing...
$350 in 2012 is like $650 in 2024. Edit: well, more like $480. But still, I think it does help put in perspective that $650 isn't so unreasonable.
I do see Cal jackets for sale fairly frequently for a lot less than that one. But this is where condition and size come into play.
If the ones I...
It's not unreasonable. Cal Leather is expensive new, $1500+.
This one is in good condition and a desirable size.
Cheap Cal is usually thrashed cracked, and dry rotted.
