I've been waiting for this line to come out since John hinted at it (seems like years ago). I probably should have stated it as Penman's Everyman line as well. So I guess I probably added to the confusion also. Sorry.

Haha!
I didn't think about that phrasing.
Yes, it's a new Open Road in their Royal felt. I liked how soft it was so much that I bought one to reshape and one to leave in the traditional cattlemen crease. The DelMonico sales recently helped as well.
Thanks!

The modern Stetsonian's tall crown makes a great deep diamond crown, in my opinion.
John Penman's Casablanca hat does as well, but that's what it is made for. [emoji3]

I have DelMonico block my hats Long Oval and it takes care of the "taco-ing".
True, the Royal felt feels more dressy and the 6X feels more durable. I treat mine a little differently too.

I believe they are out of the Stetson OR Panama (for good) and they recommend the DelMonico Stockman. I can attest to it as a fine alternative. I wore mine today.
I did trim the tails of the ribbon back about an inch after I took this picture.

You're very welcome! I'm glad to help out.
I'm interested to see the Open Road in Caribou. My Stetsonian is Caribou and it's a great color. It goes well with black, gray, navy, and even jeans.

They have several sizes right now. They are listed under Stetson Western Hats. I don't know that they've always been listed there.

My 6x Open Road is quite stiff also, but by gently bending the brim it has softened some, and will lay flat. Now my Open Road in the Royal felt from DelMonico is VERY soft. Two different hats entirely, to me. Also, about $50 price difference.

Thanks!
Mine is natural beaver with a 2 1/4" brim. Gus made sure it fit perfectly before letting me leave. While telling a story, his wife (maybe?) put the feather in the band, so I thought I'd better leave it.
The first time I was in the shop I had on my Borsalino Alessandria and tried on...
Great Batsakes hat!
Gus is a great guy. His staff can come across a bit brusque at times, but it's all part of the charm. I could listen to his stories all day. I think the hat he made for me last year took a whopping two weeks and it's beautiful.
