Are you looking to do a full face of makeup, or something lighter for the hot months? I usually switch over to tinted moisturizer for the summer (the new BB or CC creams might also be a good choice) with a little bit of concealer over any blemishes or dark circles. Gel liner stays put really...
I chopped my hair off about a month ago and opted for a pixie cut. I actually really enjoy having it this short, but I'm kind of looking forward to the growing out process as well. Really, so long as you keep the back short so you don't look too mullet-y, it's not that hard to do. Clips and pins...
I ended up getting a waspie style from orchard corset a few weeks ago, and so far I'm pretty pleased with it, especially for the price. I did a little review on my blog. http://cakesandcakesvintage.blogspot.com/2014/06/orchard-corset-waist-cincher-review.html
I recently read an article about the number of products American women use. There's a definite trend for going bare faced here in the US - 67% use less than 3 products each day, and only 3% use more than 12. So I'm wondering, how many products do you use each day? I know a lot of you, if not...
I have really fond memories of watching TCM from when I was a kid. I know someone didn't care for how often they play Singin' In The Rain, but that's one of my favorite movies, largely because I watched it over and over again there. I swear I was the only 10 year old in school who knew who Cid...
I haven't seen it quite yet, but I'm really excited for Only Lovers Left Alive. It's got Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston starring as vampires, and the reviews have been fantastic.
I've been trying to get my blog off the ground, and I would love it if you could check it out and give me some feedback. I'm at www.cakesandcakesvintage.blogspot.com.
You can use lipliner to alter the shape of your lips, actually. I wouldn't go too far outside of your natural shape, but applying foundation to your lips and then redrawing the shape slightly differently can really change your look.
I'm getting to the point where I wonder if I can still pull off really big bows. I love wearing Alice style bows in my hair, but sometimes I worry a bit that I come across like I'm trying to look like a teenager or something. I still wear them because I love them, but is there anything that you...
This is so gorgeous! I love that fur cape. I have a similar one, and every time I wear it people can't seem to resist petting me. I'll have to find a reason to bring it out again before it gets to warm.
I second the recommendation for a leather satchel, mostly because I've been thinking about getting one for a while now myself. The Leather Satchel Company, which Alice recommended, has a few items on sale on asos.com (see here), and they do make a nice backpack style as well.
If you're like me...
I think I have to disagree with that. I have quite broad shoulders, and I find a full skirt and a cinched waist help to balance me out. Of course, your mileage may vary.
I'm a huge fan of the Sephora brand lipsticks. They're really nice quality, tons of colors that you can try on before you buy, and the price isn't bad either. My favorite is probably Passion Red, which is a deep, cool toned matte red.
It's a style that was popularized by Dior in the post-War period. Nipped in waists, full skirts. Pretty much exactly what you think of when you think of fashion in the late 40s and through the 50s. You might have more luck googling Dior New Look than just New Look.
