In a sense, I got lucky. I ordered it off the rack from East West Apparel in the UK. They were very helpful and gave me accurate measurements. It didn't have the usual washing/tumbling/rewashing/waxing aging treatment that Thedi does, so the leather was new, and the jacket was a little bit large...
Aero Premier Highwayman in Black Badalassi Steer. I recently gave this one the hot water treatment. I'm not necessarily recommending it. There will be shrinkage, but I've done it successfully with several Aero jackets.
I live in the same climate, but about 200+ miles east of you. I have a Campdraft, and it's roughly the same as most other felt hats in terms of felt density, weight, etc. Since I moved back here from the West Coast, I almost never wear felt hats between mid-April and mid-October. Too hot.
This arrived a few weeks ago, purchased off the rack from a new batch of Thedi jackets that arrived at Harry Damsom Speed Shop. Thedi MTC-1279720 in Cocoa Buffalo.
I’ve been meaning to post these for awhile. I ordered this Aegean in Cocoa Buffalo off the rack from Thurston Brothers back in February. It’s an XL and fits just a bit large over the shoulders and across the chest, but works really well with a sweater layered underneath. Outdoors and interior shots.
One of the last hats to come out of Art Fawcett’s workshop before he retired, a “Blue Smoke” three inch brim Open Road style. I’ve reshaped this one several times but it wants to be a cattleman’s crease.
My brother talked me out the first one of these I had, but I found another one a couple of years ago. Resistol 10X Beaver, I’m guessing early to mid-‘60s or so, with felt that rivals anything Stetson was producing at the time, including their 100 grade Open Road hats. If you can find one, grab it.
Hey gents—the cooler weather here in the southland has me rooting around in boxes and pulling out the felts. I almost forgot I had this Borsalino I bought in San Francisco in 1986.
